Our guide Pelayo did a wonderful job touring us around San Sebastian today. Although talking a bit fast, or perhaps also because of this, he managed to include an incredible amount of historical and practical info while walking through the streets of this fascinating city. He knew the answer to every question and didn’t hold back sharing his personal experiences and perspectives which gave the tour a nice couleur locale. I’m also a big fan of the concept to pay as a donation afterwards. Five stars well earned P! Keep up the good work and best wishes from Amsterdam.

Cannot praise this tour highly enough. Met our guide Pelayo ( or “P” as he said was easier to pronounce) in pouring rain at 10.30 am. Then we had two hours of absolutely fascinating information about San Sebastián; its history; its Basque culture; interesting information on how to live here now and what else to do in San Sebastián. P was especially helpful on how to get the best of the city. I’ve been on many different types of guided tours all around the world. This was the best one I’ve experienced and so memorable. A little tip - get his advice and tips on where to eat and drink locally. Another tip- . Book online before you go as it’s a small intimate group and fills up. Overall, not to be missed. Highly recommended.

Pongo 5 estrellas porque no puedo poner 5000. El sábado día 2 hicimos 8 amigos el tour histórico con Sarai (con i latina, jeje) Espectacular. Nos lo pasamos en grande , aparte de aprender cosas de la ciudad y de los vascos. Sarai es una guía excepcional, es una show-woman: canta, baila, cuenta, imita, habla, ríe... 2 horas y media que pasaron rápido. Se nota que le encanta su trabajo y su tierra. Sarai, nos llevamos tu recuerdo a Zaragoza.

El sábado pasado reservamos un tour en inglés porque era el único que quedaba ese día. Fue muy fácil reservar el tour online y el tour en si fue excelente. Pelayo fue nuestro guía por esta hermosa ciudad y no solo nos hizo un gran pantallazo general de la historia de la ciudad sino que nos hizo muy buenas recomendaciones y acotaciones de datos curiosos a medida que fuimos recorriendo Donostia. Luego del tour seguimos varias de sus recomendaciones gastronómicas y fueron todas acertadas. Nos quedamos con ganas de ir a varios lugares y probar más pinchos así que tocará volver.

We joined a tour led by Pelayo yesterday. It was fabulous! He did a great job of including interesting bits of history, cultural context, architecture, and humor into his comments. The tour was a great introduction to San Sebastián and he provided recommendations for things to do on our own. Definitely do this tour early in your visit to take advantage of what you learn and those recommendations for the rest of your trip!

It was an amazing tour! I did not realize the time passing by since the stories were perfect: brief, on point, and most of the time with a connection to present life, all presented with some jokes! Nerea is an excellent tour guide. She guided the group through beautiful parts of San Sebastian and shared her extensive knowledge of its history in a very accessible way. I guided pay what you wish tours in NYC for six years and know a great tour guide when I see one. I wish there were more like these in this wonderful part of the world.

Marcella did a great job! Especially knowing that she was still learning the job, it was clear that she had the right level of enthusiasm very quickly developing the right level of knowledge and a great personality for the job. Good luck! You’re gonna do great.

Pelayo was great tour guide, brought the history and culture of San Sebastián to life. Great humour with some funny stories and recommendations, you really should do this tour as early into your holiday as possible so that you can follow up on his many tips of restaurants, places and areas to visit. we had a wonderful tour of the old town with Pelayo today. Pelayo was extremely knowledgeable of the history and current issues in San Sebastián. He provided us with a host of ideas for the rest of our trip, including some of his favorite pintxos bars. The pace of the tour was great, and we covered lots of territory in a few short hours. Pelayo was my guide for the tour, he was funny, articulate, passionate and he really knows what he is doing even though he says he is making it along the way. He really touched upon all things San Sebastian is known for and it's history in two hours. He even taught us how to order pinxtos and drink and how to hop between places. Book this tour. End of story. Pelayo, pronounced just like it's spelled, is an incredible guide. I recommend doing this tour on your first day to gain an understanding of how best to spend your time in the city and region.

Pelayo was a brilliant guide!!

We took the walking tour with Pelayo on 14 May. Pelayo is very funny and gave us lots of useful and practical information about San Sebastián, from Pintxos bar hopping to the gastronomy scene and the local’s obsession of cooking. Funny history about the Queen and other almighty ever visited the city. We went to Bar Sport and Casa Gandarias - and ordered the specialties he recommended - good food and we even brought friends to visit the second time! We strongly recommend the tour with Pelayo

Our guide Pelayo was fantastic!!! We enjoyed his passion for the city of San Sebastián and Basque culture AND his sense of humour. We really enjoyed the morning with him and followed up on some of his recommendations like the museum, pintxos bars and the Gros area and loved them all!

We took a free, 2 hour walking tour of Donostia/San Sebastian with Nirea on May 12, 2024. She was a great tour guide, giving us a lot of information about the city’s history and culture as we toured the city. I’d recommend taking this tour.

The walking tour had not progressed more than 30 yards in the first 15 minutes. I was hoping for more, but when I asked the host if we might start moving, she invited me to go on my own. She then talked down to my wife and our friend’s husband in a condescending way. That was enough for me, and I left the tour. Turns out, that was a good decision. When I joined up with my party after the tour, they were appalled at the rudeness and hostility the tour guide exhibited throughout. She actually told me that she “is a hater.” The positives: she seemed to have a wealth of knowledge about this area of Spain. But It was all presented with a serious chip on her shoulder. Who wants this kind of negative experience? The owner responded to my review with sarcasm and condescension. Not surprising.

We had a superb tour with Pelayo. We have been on numerous tours around Europe but this was the best we’ve been on, so entertaining, interesting and engaging - all credit to Pelayo for keeping the tour so enjoyable in the pouring rain. Would 100% recommend.

My walking tour guide was Nerea who was actually my bike tour guide earlier in the day. She was patient, informative and showed me around the old town providing details about the history. The tours are free but rely on tips so please tip appropriately. Walking tour can be anything up to $50 so let’s keep this company going!

Funny, knowledgeable, appropriate slang, really a wonderful person. I wish we had enough money to pay him what he's worth. He'll have to settle for the Tiffany blue box!! Ibon won the award for the most energetic and engaging tour guide ever! How fun was to have a tour with him in English! Fully recommend-not only you will get tips about where to eat the best basque cheesecake,but also he will teach you about history and basque clothing. A highlight of my visit!

Ibon is a powerhouse of fact and entertainment. His free guided tour of San Sebastian is arguably the best anywhere on the planet. I've been on countless walking tours and most feel like a terribly boring secondary school history lesson. Ibon makes his tour fun...he's like a dizzy mix of Jack Sparrow and Russell Brand with a pinch of Stephen Fry thrown in for good measure. The tour flew past in no time as we traversed the charming streets of the Old Town which are a sea of pintxo bars and restaurants. Ibon includes everyone in his tour, making sure everyone is engaging the facts. He throws the occasional blatant misfact in there just to ensure you're tuned in. There's lots of fascinating historical facts to learn in this wonderful gastronomic northern city in Spain but Ibon makes you feel like you are having a day out with your cleverest and wittiest mate for three hours. Ibon was born to be on the stage in whatever art form he decides to adopt. This is a 5 star review but, if there was a way to distinguish above all the other 5 star rated tours, then it would be totally justified.

A very informative, interesting and entertaining tour. Well worth doing - even if raining. Our guide, a local called Asier, had a great sense of humour and was very engaging as he explained the history of Donastia-San Sebastian. I wish I'd had more Euros on me to thank him more appropriately. Thank you 😊

Our guide was Hegei and he had an assistant whose name we couldn't catch. Both lads were enthusiastic and knowledgeable and they brought to life the unique Basque language and culture and explained about some if the buildings in the new and old part of town. The 2 hours shot by and it certainly expanded our insight into the country we were in One minor criticism, the day was clocking 38c and us pale Brits were wilting and some of the chats were done in direct heat and we could feel our skin burning. A move to under a tree would have helped. At the end of the talk we would have loved to have taken the talk to a bar to have learnt more about basque culture

Kay showed us around the beautiful town of donostia giving us an overview on basque culture and donostia local festivities. 2 hours passed very quickly. Tour finished at theater. We booked the tour 5 minutes before at the office. Tour only available in English

Excellent guide who was very knowledgeable on Basque history.

The concept is great. Have had many good ones in other cities. This one was so so. No headphones, a lot of background noise. Our guide was a very pleasant person, the stories were dry and difficult to follow. You pay what it is "worth", so it should not be seen as free. Please pay a decent amount.

Colton gave a very informative tour. It went ahead, even though we were just 3 people, which was greatly appreciated. We got to see the main attractions in the center, got plenty of historic background information, and could freely ask extra questions.

We signed up for 2 hours, thinking we would not be able to last the full hours as we had a baby in tow. But Alba was full of really interesting facts about the history of the city, supported with some historical photos that she passed round. It was also useful to get a lowdown of PInxtos etiquette from her. Well worth it.

We were with 6 persons and were not very happy with our tour guide Ely (?). We understand some Spanish if someone speaks at a slow to normal rate, but she said she was not able to slow down. Because she wanted to explain a lot ... Only when two of our group left, she started to speak more slowly and translate part in English. We wished she had done that from the start. Also, we feel that she should skip some parts; it's too much information.

This was a terrific tour! Our guide, Nerea, was full of really interesting information, and she presented it clearly. I learned a lot about this beautiful city. I'd recommend that every newcomer take this tour.

Good, interesting and informative city tour but please do not follow their recommendations for pintxos bars. We went to one of them and it was the most touristic place I have ever been (and I live in Barcelona..quite used with these vibes).

Brilliant! Pelayo was really informative and kept the tour interesting and fun. 2 hours flew by. He was also very good at answering our questions. Although free, we tipped our guide 20Euro each and it was worth it in my opinion.

Pelayo was an amazing tour guide!. He was extremely nice and very entertaining. He treasures a deep knowledge of San Sebastian and hence, Spanish history. I would totally recommend him for a tour around the city. PD, do not forget to ask for restaurants on where to eat!

Alba hat unsere kleine Gruppe angenehm durch die Stadt geführt und dabei interessante Details weitergegeben. Für meinen Geschmack kamen dabei allerdings etwas zu viele negative Vibes rüber (wie nervig die Franzosen sind; wie ausbeuterisch und schlecht so manche Restaurants;...). Ansonsten unterhaltsam und kurzweilig. Sie hat uns tolle Tipps (z.B. zu veganem Essen) gegeben und kompetent Fragen beantwortet.

Despite the really bad weather, we had an excellent tour by Pi, our guide. He gave us an full guided tour with lots of useful information, decorated with humour and with very nice English! He was all wet but he didn't stop! Thank you Pi.!

Al final del tour he aprendido mucho sobre la historia de San Sebastián y algunos elementos característicos de la cultura guipuzcoana, cómo los pintxos. Si se mezcla un erúdito en historia, un enamorado de San Sebastián y sus alrededores, un profundo conocedor de sus oferta cultural, de ocio y gastronomía y un showman con mucha ironía inteligente ¿Qué se obtiene? Pues un guía excepcional como Pelayo que te hará amar para siempre Donostia. Que en dos horas que se te pasan volando te da una explicación muy amena pero también muy rigurosa históricamente de lo que es y ha sido la ciudad y de qué ver en ella y en sus cercanías. Reirás, te sorprenderás, aprenderás y sobre todo te impregnarás del amor profundo por San Sebastián que transmite. Es una visita no ya recomendable, sino imprescindible. A nosotros nos la recomendó la oficina de turismo, era la primera tarde y fue una opción ideal. Nos mostró todas las opciones posibles para todo tipo de turismo: Cultural, gastronómico, naturaleza.... Como se dice a veces, en una escala del 1 al 10, yo les pongo ¡UN 11!

Pelayo fue súper amable y tenía "to" el arte, las 2h se hicieron super amenas, con anécdotas de por medio, a mi personalmente se me pasó volando! Lo recomiendo sin lugar a dudas!!!
