We did a e-bike tour with Terrick (sp? Aussie/Basque guide) and he was great! We learned a lot about Basque history and felt like we got a nice overview of Donostia / San Sebastián. We even sampled some local sidra (cider). Highly recommend if you’re looking to explore more than just what you can see walking in a few hours, as well as learning some history of Basque country. We enjoyed our group, who were from various countries.

Had a great e-bike tour with Carlos. It was our first time in San Sebastián and it is definitely bicycle friendly. Despite the rain for the second half of the tour we persisted and learned a lot and good some great food recommendations.

This was a great tour. Our guide Lorenzo was very knowledgeable and gave us heaps of information about San Sebastian's history, Basque history and culture, and information about the town. We cycled all around San Sebastian (a very bike-friendly town!) and saw heaps. Highly recommended.

We had a really great group bike tour with the super enthusiastic Jacob who knows a helluva lot about the local history of Donastia/San Sebastian and brought us around lots of the neighbourhoods including through the ‘ice tunnel’ (which we are now calling it) - the longest bike tunnel in Europe with cooling mist - perfect on a very hot day. The list of recommended pintxos bars as well as local Basque phrases he sent us after the tour was invaluable.

4 augustus 2025 een super verzorgde fietstocht door San Sebastiaan gedaan. Op elektrische fietsen, wat natuurlijk heel relaxed was. Maar vooral met een fantastische gids. Vraag vooral naar Jacob uit Tampa Florida. Hij heeft ontzettend veel kennis over de stad met ons gedeeld. Wat de fietstocht enorm interessant maakte. Hij heeft veel passie voor de geschiedenis waardoor zijn verhaal geen opsomming van feiten is maar een echt verhaal. Daarnaast heeft hij ook kennis van de stad naast zijn verhaal. Neem wel de tijd! Het kan iets uitlopen door z’n enthousiasme.

Goede service, snel geregeld. Route informatie en uitleg op de kaart plus de juiste tip voor het goede restaurant. Wij hadden voor de informatie elektrische fiets gehuurd voor € 36 per stuk per dag.

We absolutely loved our afternoon with Tarik. He clearly loves his city, and the Basque Country in general, and his passion and enthusiasm comes across in the stories he tells. The e-bikes are a really fun way to get around this beautiful place. Booking was very simple and everyone we spoke to was friendly. Tarik shared his tips for the best pintxos (NOT tapas!) in town, and many other recommendations. Thank you!

Een hele leuke manier om San Sebastian te leren kennen. In de ruim 2 uur durende fietstocht komen de highlights voorbij. De gids wist veel te vertellen op San Sebastian en over de Baskische geschiedenis. De fietsen zijn e-bikes waardoor de tocht niet een grote inspanning vraagt. Een aanrader!

Had a lovely e-bike ride through san Sebastián yesterday. Our guide Jacob was very entertaining and informed us on all the good things of San Sebastián including a lot of history, architecture and eating culture including the nice pinxtos bars to visit. It’s an ideal way to start your city trip as you know your way around town much better after starting a bijw trip. Highly recommend Jacob to be your tour guide. We booked through Bayabikes.

Carlos, our guide, was a nice guy. He knows al lot of things about the history of San Sebastian and it's neighbourhoods. The tour of 3 hours, is a good mix of cycling and stops. There is a possibility for a drink with 1 of the famous pinxtos, during the tour. All with all a nice experience and a unique way to discover San Sebastian! Thanks Baja Bikes and Carlos!

We recently had the pleasure of joining the Basque by Bike tour in San Sebastián, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Our knowledgeable guide, Tarik, was a wealth of information about the city's history, culture, and architecture. As we cycled through the charming streets, he shared fascinating stories about the Basque people, their traditions, and their unique language. The tour was well planned and we explored both the bustling city center and the serene coastal paths with breathtaking views of the water. Tarik's passion for cycling and his love for San Sebastián were infectious, making the experience even more of a fantastic opportunity to see the city from a different perspective and learn about its rich heritage.

We had a great morning with Tarik today exploring Donastia (San Sebastián). He was very knowledgeable and the ride was a breeze on the electric assist bikes although everywhere was mostly flat. Tarik spoke perfect English having lived half his life in Australia and half in Donastia. We came out of the tour with a much better understanding of the city but also the Basque region. Most importantly I can now ask for beer in another language.

Great bike tour! Equipment was in good shape and easy dealing with this group. Our tour guide, Tarik, was amazing! He was so fun, on top of having really interesting information. His love for San Sabastian showed in his enthusiasm in all aspect's of the city; history, culture, little known facts, and finally a great list of his favorite eateries and cultural activities. Oh yes, on top of all this, he led a safe bike ride. All in all we would highly recommend.

Fab tour today by Paulo. Always hard to please a family of 4 with two lads - 15 and 19 but this tour was perfect. 3pm start - so just after breakfast for them and did the whole loop of the city including a fab mountain tunnel. Great photos and lots of history for me. Thanks Paulo, your love for the city shone through.

We've booked many similar tours across Europe and the US. Jacob was hands down the best guide we've ever had. Colorful local history and linguistics mixed with some clever humor made for an amazing tour for the family (with 16 and 14-year-old sons). If you're heading to San Sebastián, I would recommend doing this tour on your first full day to get some historical background and the lay of the land.

Had a great tour with Tarik today! We took note from other reviews and did the historic/cultural tour in the first few days of our time in Donostia and so glad we did. We learned and saw a ton and are excited to explore more in depth. We traveled with our 12 and 14 year old too and they even enjoyed it (and believe me, 14 year old girls are hard to please - especially after making her wear a helmet all morning ;)!) We would definitely recommend this tour with San Sebastian Adventures. Also, Fernando, in the office, was awesome - super nice and perfect English! Eskerrik Asko! We had an amazing bike tour of Donostia/San Sebastián with San Sebastián Adventures arranged through Baja Bikes. We cycled through different parts of the city and beaches, learning about local history, like Napoleon burning the city down, Queen Maria Christina’s lasting impact on Basque food and architecture, as well as the Basque tendency to protest in person and through modern sculpture. I especially liked hearing about Basque culture and what differentiates the Basque people from the rest of Spain. The very best part of the tour was our tour guide, Tarik, who kept everyone engaged and entertained, and added his own multicultural perspective in a kind and thoughtful way. Tarik also gave us great tips for an afternoon ride to a nearby fishing village that we loved, with bikes we rented directly from the bike shop. I highly recommend the bike tour to anyone who’d like a great overview of the city while enjoying the beauty and fresh air of the seaside. Special thanks to Tarik and the team at the Bicicleta Donostia cycle shop, you made our trip the best!

My wife and I enjoyed the tour. Paulo was a gentle and informed Basque gentleman. For me the tour gave me an apreciation of the history and development of this beautiful colorful city. But more,it open my eyes to Basque history in Spain and Europe. Incredible story.

Excellent tour provided by Tarik for our family of 5--two adults and 3 kids ranging from 11-15. Really enjoyed biking the city on ebikes and learning about Donosta and the Basque people. Very worthwhile to do at the start of your stay in San Sebastian.

This bike tour is a really convenient way of exploring San Sebastian. Jake has a lot of knowledge about the city, history and background of Basque country which was super interesting to learn. I absolutely recommend doing this tour!

Een hele leuke manier om San Sebastian te leren kennen. Onze gids Tarik was top! Hij wist veel te vertellen over de stad en over het Baskenland. Hij gaf een korte les over lokale gebruiken en kwam met een hele lijst goede tapasbars en goede restaurants. We hebben heerlijk gegeten in Bodegon Alejendro.

Wij hebben met Jake een fietstoer gedaan via Baja Bikes. Een ontzettend leuke en interessante toer, zoveel geleerd over de achtergrond en geschiedenis. Een must do activiteit als je voor het eerst in San Sebastián bent!

I cannot recommend this tour, led by Jake, highly enough! Jake was incredibly knowledgeable and personable, and went above and beyond to make the tour one of the highlights of our trip. My brother and I are truly glad we decided to take this tour, which offered a great perspective on a fascinating city!

Jake's tour is a MUST for anyone traveling through San Sebastián. Perfect way to start your visit to give you a 10,000 foot view of the area. He has a true passion for the city and knows it inside and out. Furthermore, he offered a unique POV as an ex-pat from Florida so his experiences were nuanced and understood the needs and interests of a traveler. Tarik was flat out amazing. He took us on bike tour on Sunday morning around Donostia and the trip was filled with cool sites and lots of learning about the area. He is friendly and engaging. Pretty much the perfect guy for this kind of adventure.

Als je op een actieve en leuke manier kennis wil maken met San Sebastian is de fietstocht o.l.v. een gids een aanrader. Wij hebben met Tarik deze tocht van ca. 2,5 uur gemaakt en dit heerlijk. Je komt op mooie plaatsen en Tarik weet veel van het heden en verleden van San Sebastian én kan er leuk over vertellen. Ook heeft hij goede tips voor je verdere verblijf in San Sebastian. De tocht maak je met een e-bike maar onze route was makkelijk om te doen ook zonder hulp van de "e" :).

First, electric bikes are the the best way to tour around Saint Sebastian! We saw more of the city, on a beautiful day, and its people, than we ever could have on foot. And the city is so friendly to bikes, with bicycle paths and super safe crossings throughout our tour. Second, Tarik our tour guide and bike leader, was fantastic. He really knew his history. His wife and family are from this region and he is multicultural and multilingual, so he has a wealth of knowledge and made the tour fascinating from start to finish. HIGHLY recommend!

Jacob took us on the San Sebastian bike tour. Jacob - although not a local- has spent years looking at Spanish history in general and Basque/Donostia particularly. Through his enthusiasm he was able to pass on a great and entertaining history and guide of the town and how it got to where it is now. And the best places for pintxos/coffee/drinks!

My husband, our almost 4 year old and I went on this tour with Jacob and had such a great time! It was an excellent way of getting a feel for San Sebastian and learning about the history, people and food along with some great tips. Jacob was fantastically entertaining and very accommodating to the interruptions by our son and toilet breaks! Our little one loved zooming about in a trailer on the back of a bike. I'm almost 7 months pregnant and appreciated the e-bike assistance! It was fun to have a go on the bikes whilst being entertaining education.

Can't say enough great things about Jake as a guide! He's a wealth of historical knowledge, shared in a way that helps to understand modern Donastia. I would highly recommend this tour and especially, with Jake.

Ein weiteres Plus ist auch, dass Jacobs Englisch als Amerikaner wunderbar zu verstehen ist.

Last week while in San Sebastian, I went on a group bike tour, led by Jacob - it was the highlight on my trip! :) This guy is FULL of Basque Country facts and historical knowledge...our tour even went an hour over the ending point, and he was still just delighted to share more information with us and keep it going until he shared everything he had planned to. He showed us some great areas of San Sebastian and kept us safe while guiding us from one point to another. While traveling, you meet many people and can quickly sense if they enjoy what they do...Jacob has a passion to meet and teach others and to spread knowledge...all whilst making it incredibly entertaining. If you enjoying cycling and want to see the city on wheels, if you want to forget about the time and feel captivated by a true storyteller - you need to experience a bike tour with Jacob. The entire tour was an amazing experience. Jacob has an excellent knowledge not only of Basque/Spanish history, but also in the context of world history. Great experience mainly because of the great, great story telling of Jacob our guide, a natural talent! We now know a great deal more about the city, its history (Jacob’s ‘small version’ was 10 minutes long 😃) and of course its delicious food. My son and I had a private bike tour of San Sebastian with Jacob, our intrepid guide and favorite expat. We loved meeting a fellow Southerner and Jacob's knowledge of San Sebastian and Spain at large was incredible. Seeing San Sebastian by e-bike was a treat. We learned so much about the history of San Sebastian and were able to see the city from a truly local point of view. Jacob is an encyclopedia of knowledge and was one of the best tour guides we had during our two week trip to Spain. The e-bikes are easy to ride and you can make it either a workout or a leisurely ride depending on the setting. I would highly recommend during a tour in the late afternoon when the city is on siesta, traffic is minimal and you can zip all around town. Jacob also sent me a detailed email following our tour about the best Pintxos bars in Old Town, which led to a great night out! The crowded pintxos scene can be a bit intimidating to a non Spanish speaker, but Jacob gave us detailed instructions and we had a blast. Thank you Jacob for a wonderful tour!

Our family (parents and four teenagers) thoroughly enjoyed this tour.
