Fantastic excursion with Nora (guide). Beautiful places, very good food, nice wine, amazing company. The trip was exactly 6 hours, on time departure/arrival. Our guide Nora was very informative, give us a lot of details and infos about all the places representing the Basque history. Meeting point & drop off next to the Puppy. Small group of 8, very international group and nice people, good fun. Transportation was with a very good quality minibus, free bottled water, and i have to mention a very good driver. (Well done Nora!) Although the first part of the trip (Gaztelugatxe) is pretty demanding physically with a steep up&down, and a 241 steps up later and same back, the stairs are the easiest part. But it totally worth it! 2nd stop Mundaka, nice little village with an amazing lunch and wine (you pay what you eat&drink), and 3rd stop Gernika with its history and Picasso. Well organised trip, very informative, amazing guide, would be happy to do it again anytime! Highly recommended!

We did the Gaztelugatxe, Mundaka and Gernika tour last week, This was an excellent trip, that was augmented by our extremely knowledgeable and entertaining guide Adur. His personal experience from the area, and Gernika in particular, was something that lifted this trip to something out of the ordinary. The stops were well planned and the trip went smoothly with ample time at each stop (also helped by a group of people that were all reasonably fit - the hike to Gaztelugatxe is perhaps more strenuous than communicated).

Nora was an amazing tour guide! I was the only person in the group that did not speak Spanish, so she translated everything in Spanish and English. She went above and beyond to make sure I didn’t feel left out!

We took the trip from San Sebastian to Hondarribia and Pasaia. Iker, our tour guide was most knowledgeable on every part of our journey and bestowed us in the traditions of rowing in the Northern region, and the industry in Pasaia. We walked a few steps of The Camino de Santiago and learned of lots of local history. The Irish are still the Olympic rowing champions though!!!

El día de hoy fuimos con Adur hacia Gaztelugatxe, Mundaka y Gernika y fue sin duda una excelente experiencia. El dio un excelente servicio en todos los sentidos por lo que lo recomiendo ampliamente. Los 3 lugares valen mucho la pena visitar .

We did a Tour with Nora to visit Mundaka, Gernika and Gatzelugatxe. Nora was driver and guide in one person and Procedere that women are capable of multi-tasking. While driving she gave us detailed information about her region. She even did the hike up to the chapel of Gatztelugatxe with us. Recommondations for food and restaura ts in Bilbao were very helpful. Nora loves what she does. I can highly recommend her. Thank you for the Tour, Nora.

We had a great excursion with Local Expert Tours. Our guide, Asier, communicated with us promptly during pickup, and we arrived at each destination with plenty of time to explore and take in the views of the Basque country. I really appreciated how knowledgeable Asier was as a local. He talks about the country's history with grace, and he generously provided us with recommendations in the Bilbao area for the rest of our stay.

We had a great trip with Local Expert tours, learning about Basque history and future. Since we didn't have a car, this was a great way to get out of the city for beautiful views, and to see a town we would not have otherwise seen on our trip to Bilbao and Pais Vasco. We have had amazing tours in Spain and the Basque country with the guides from Local Expert Tours. Jose's knowledge of the Guggenheim in Bilbao and Eduardo's tours in nearby towns and to Rioja were very enlightening. Eider's knowledge of Pamplona and her interactive style made for a memorable day; we haven't laughed so much in a long time. And tonight's cooking excursion with Ana was definitely a highlight.

Great day with Paul. Although it rained, we had a great hike to Gaztelugatxe, and he made sure stayed safe and as dry as possible. Lunch was delicious as we took Paul’s recommendations for local dishes. We had enough time at the Guggenheim to really appreciate most of the installations. Overall it was a great day and our entire family made some great memories!

I was fortunate to have guide Asier as the driver and expert-extraordinaire on the small group day trip to Rioja. One of the best wine experiences I have ever had. Two completely different family/friend run wineries where the hosts were generous and very informative. And then a casual lunch in LaGuardia. Asier was engaging, considerate and very knowledgeable. Die Tour hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Unser Tourguide Adur war super nett und hat uns viele Infos zu den einzelnen Orten mitgeteilt. Vorallem beim ersten Stopp in Gaztelugatxe ist eine gewisse Sportlichkeit gefragt. Wir dachten es wird immer übertrieben, aber der Weg ist sehr anspruchsvoll. Dafür erhält man eine wunderschöne Aussicht. Leider mussten wir nach wenigen Minuten am Ziel auch schon wieder gehen. Wir hätten die Aussicht gerne ein bisschen länger genossen.

Aider was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Bilbao. He answered all our questions and gave insights into the local food and even how to cook some!

My friends did a half-day winery tour from Logroño in La Rioja. Being able to visit family owned wineries and learn more about the Rioja history was a great experience. Not to mention the wines themselves were incredibly delicious. Our tour guide, Eider, was also amazing. She was fun, friendly, and knowledgeable of the area. She shared some history of the area that she herself had learned and took us to the perfect lunch spot to end the tour. She ordered the items from the menu for us and everything was incredibly good. She did such a great job and helped us get some great pictures in the process! If you’re ever in the area, check out Local Experts Tour and see if you can request Eider as your tour guide.

My husband and I took a tour today starting in San Sebastian, Spain going to Gaztelugatxe and Gernik. It started a little rough because our guide, whoever he was, was stuck in traffic. But the guide who took over, Nora Zabala, quickly got things going in the right direction. She had so much information to share about both places… I honestly learned a lot. She had a wonderful way of presenting things… Keeping our attention at all times. We were lucky enough to be visiting Gernik On a festival day…… It was a fabulous thing to see and participate in, in addition to the usual highlights of the tour in Gernik. My only suggestion would be that Local Expert Tours invest in better microphone technology. Despite her best efforts to get everything right, it was sometimes difficult to hear Nora in the backseat… Difficult to get the volume right and difficult because static interfered with what we could hear. Overall, I would definitely use Local Expert Tours again. And I can say only good things about Nora… She is an excellent guide.

We had an excellent txakoli tour today with Javier. Enjoyed visiting the small town of Getaria and hearing about their sailing history. The views along the coast were stunning. The Gañeta txakolina was in the hills with a view of the ocean and surrounding vineyards. Wine tasting and small bites were very good. Just returned from the Hondarribia, San Juan & San Pedro from San Sebastian, Local Tour, guided by Iker. Seeing some of the local villages around San Sebastian and getting insights into their history, culture was a great experience. It was made all the more interesting with insights and humour from Iker. He has an engaging and friendly personality. The old town of Hondarribia is amazing along with some great walks around San Juan & San Pedro, with anecdotes aroun dthe Spain & French histories and relationships, fishing villages, whaling, regional rowing competitiveness etc, were always interesting. The views from the top of mountain at Hondarribia was spectacular. It was a safe and comfortable trip in Iker's Mercedes van. A very worthwhile trip to see the local area.

Had an amazing tour of Donostia (San Sebastian) with our tour guide Julen (NOT pronounced Julian 😉) today! Julen has a remarkable knowledge not only about the area and Basque Country, but also about its history. He showed us beautiful areas of the city and told us all the great places to eat (and what/how to order)! He was fun, funny, engaging and really took an interest in us as well. Lots of great wine and food to be had, but more importantly we learned a ton about the area of the country and the people who live and work there. We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of San Sebastián, Spain, hosted by the vibrant and amazing Beatriz. We ran very late (40 minutes) from a long drive into town. Thankfully Beatriz stuck it out and waited for us. We had a joyful zip around the key sites, gained useful information, clicking so easily with Beatriz, it was fun!

This was my first time to Spain, and Local Experts Tours was absolutely wonderful! We had 4 tours with them, and each was informative and fun. Walking tours through San Sebastian, hiking St James Way, a DELICIOUS pintxos tour in Bilboa, finishing up with a van tour through Basque country. Beatrice gave us a private hiking tour from San Sebastián to Pasaia and did an amazing job, even though it was raining. Excellent conversationalist. She taught us some Basque to communicate with locals better. We had some extra time at the end of the trip and she showed us around San Juan a bit, which was the coolest part of the trip.

We had a great day with our tour guide José when visiting Gernika, San Juan and mundaka. He was incredibly knowledgeable and great fun! The bus was very comfortable and the driver was good too. The tour was in both Spanish and English and very well delivered! Would recommend this tour provider, tour and guide and will be using it ourselves again

Excursión accidentada desde el principio, llegaron tarde las guías Ana y Beatriz. Todo el trayecto a Biarritz corriendo y con prisas. Para comer te dan 30 minutos para buscar restaurante, comer y volver al punto de encuentro que estaba a 10 minutos. Tuvimos que comprar un bocadillo y comerlo en la calle. No sería mejor, una vez terminada, volver a Donosti y cada uno come tranquilo donde quiera? Después de escuchar las explicaciones, no te podías parar a hacer alguna foto y te la tenías que hacer donde ellas quisieran. Y como ,no, Beatriz, con sorna, comentando si éramos mayores. Te damos mil vueltas caminando.

Great tour of San Sebastian’s old city!

Three excellent destinations with an excellent guide. Our guide Jose was/is a true professional. Lots of information with a twist of humor. It was interesting to hear the history of these destinations and Pais Vasco in general. Scenery and landscapes on this trip were amazing. Especially Mundakas long waves along the coast and Gatzelugatxes dramatic and famous landscapes took the breath away (After Gatzelugatxes stairs anyway 😄)! Highly recommended!

Julen was absolutely awesome. One of the best guides we have had on any overseas experience. We had a great group and the food and wine were unreal as well. I’d recommend this to anyone, particularly with Julen at the helm!

I really enjoyed the tour with Iker on the 11 September to Zarauz Getaria & Zumaia. The environment was gorgeous and Iker’s knowledge of place and history made it even more interesting. I learnt a lot! Thank you Iker for making the tour so worthwhile, excellent tour leader.

Fantastic tour of Gaztelugatxe, Gernika, and Mundaka with Adur. He was knowledgeable and funny and gave lots of interesting facts about the area and history. Would highly recommend but the walk to the hermitage at Gaztelugatxe is a bit of a killer but worth it.

An excellent guided hike to San Pedro across St. James Way (Camino) from San Sebastian. A lovely, sunny morning. Clear communications and instructions prior to the trip, with meeting point and directions. A young guide called Julen looked after us. He is a local who has plenty of useful tips for us. The small group of just 4 guests gave an ‘intimate’ experience. Suitable footwear such as walking boots or sturdy, grippy trainers is a must. The hike has a challenging uphill start but thereafter, it is all downhill. We kept to time and everything went well. The views at the top are amazing and well worth it. We earned our pintxo and cider at San Pedro before being taxied back to meeting point at San Sebastián. Whole trip lasted just under 5 hours. All in all, a very pleasant activity and great company to do this with. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend this day trip from Bilbao! Nora provided an immense amount of interesting information, from Bilbao city history to Basque language, history, culture, art, religion. The two coastal stops are stunning, gorgeous views of the coast. The walk at Gaztelugatxe is steep but not very long, and there is an alternate easier route, so don’t be scared off. The visit to Gernika is moving. Overall an excellent experience!

Today’s tour was absolutely amazing! Paul’s explanation of Hondarribia’s history made the streets come alive and helped me understand the city so much better. The way the medieval atmosphere has been preserved here is truly beautiful. Pasai and San Pedro were also stunning, and although the boat ride was short, it was such a wonderful and memorable experience. Paul’s guiding, preparation of materials, and overall operation were simply perfect. Thank you so much for creating such a great memory for us!

We had a brilliant tour of a local tkaxoli vineyard with Viktor, who also showed us Getaria and Zumaia. Julian really was a great guide, very personable, extremely knowledgeable and in tune with what our small group were looking for. The tour itself was well sorted and added a lot to my appreciation of the area.

Jonathon was an excellent host. He was knowledgeable and gave our group lots of information, but also allowed the group time to chat and enjoy the evening. The pinxtos was delicious and Jonathon was also able to cater for those who required alternative food. Highly recommend this tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Rioja wine region in the capable hands of Local Expert Tours and our Josean, our driver and guide for the day. We visited two wineries - Bodegas Luis Canas and Tritium. These offered good contrasts, the former a larger scale operation, with the latter offering a more boutique experience. But both were very interesting and enjoyable with excellent hosts at each who explained the history of the wineries and treated us to a selection of excellent wines. After the two wineries we enjoyed lunch at a restaurant in a lovely setting in the beautiful medieval town of Laguardia. Josean picked us up at our hotel and was excellent company and looked after us very well, explaining a lot of Basque history and culture to us. Importantly, he was also a very safe driver! Overall, a great day out.

Our Rioja wine tasting tour with Alby and Diego was one of the highlights of our trip to Spain. Nora was super knowledgeable and passionate about this tour. We were going to rent a car and do this on our own but we are glad we didn’t. We found out so much about the Basque history and got to enjoy some local spots. Loved it!

Tour from San Sebastian to Biarritz and Bayonne with Donostyle/Civitatis The tour had several problems. The guide, Ana, asked for the passport and, when told it had never been provided, responded unfriendlyly. Her explanations in the van could only be heard in the front row; they require a microphone. The visit to Biarritz was chaotic, and the guidance on returning to the vehicle was very poor. Furthermore, the distribution in the vans was uneven: eight people were squeezed into one and three in another, and they refused to balance the seats. With better organization and training, the experience would be much better.

Nuestro tour empezó desde Bilbao en bus con primera tapa en Guernica donde se visita solamente el centro ciudad, luego se sigue hasta Mundaka, ciudad de pescadores y surfers. Al final se llega a Gatzelugatzxe donde se puede subir hasta el monasterio.buen tour para visitar más sitios durante 6 horas.

Exceptional tour! Josu was our tour guide, and we highly recommend that you request him. He was very professional, respectful, friendly, communicative, and knowledgeable. All of the towns we visited had their own enchantment. We visited Biarritz, Bayona, and St. Jean de Luz. The ocean views at Biarritz are spectacular. The “pastel vasco”(Gateau Basque) is a must try. Bayona was a pretty town with colorful houses and stores. Chocolates were delicious. St. Jean de Luz is smaller, but pretty as well with many small shops around and streets to walk around. The Cathedrals and churches in the three cities were beautiful to see as well.

We had Edwardo as a guide and he was great. He was knowledgeable, passionate and a pleasure to talk with. The winerys we went to also had interesting guides and very nice wine. A good mix of talking about the wine growing and making process and tasting.

Beatrix and Diego were fantastic! So kind and educational. I was skeptical of doing a tour in San Sebastián , but it was honestly so rewarding to do! I highly recommend it

Hoy 25 de agosto, hemos hecho, en viaje organizado, un recorrido por algunos pueblos de la costa guipuzcoana. El viaje nos ha encantado no solo por los sitios visitados, entre los que se encuentran los plegamientos de Zumaia, sino por el guía que nos ha acompañado, Iker, que en todo momento se nota que vive su profesión y sabe transmitirlo y además es muy campechano.

Mi pareja y yo hicimos un Tour con ellos a Guernica, Mundaka y San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Nuestro guía fue Jose y fue súper amable y alegre. Fue un viaje muy interesante. Sin duda recomiendo hacer tours con ellos.

Hicimos una excursión a Bayona y Biarritz, el miércoles 20-08-2025, que fue un despropósito. Se exige puntualidad y uno de los guías llegó tarde. Se cambió el itinerario. Todo deprisa y corriendo y sin tiempo para ir al baño(el guía no sabía donde había), y fotografias rapiditas. Y luego, en Biarritz, se paró 15 minutos, porque su "fandon" tenían que tomar café. Después otra vez las prisas, y ya está, sin tiempo para nada más. Unas personas se quedaron fuera del grupo porque estaban en el baño, y no hacía recuento. Y el tema de la frontera con los gendarmes franceses, lo llevó el chófer, ya que los guías iban de turistas. Recomiendo hacer la excursión por libre, ya que hay autobuses, que van directos, y con Google más y las actuales tecnologías, es mejor que con dos guías...como los que nos tocaron. Los lugares son bonitos.

Dos excursiones que hemos realizado, todo ha sido perfecto, muy bonitas y amenas, pero aparte de los sitios visitados y las rutas que son extraordinarias, lo mejor es Iker, el pedazo de guía que tuvimos la suerte de tener en las dos. Es una persona que se involucra totalmente con todos nosotros, simpático, muy agradable y atento. Sin duda cuando vuelva, ojalá lo tuviera de guía. Gracias Iker, por ser como eres.

Iker Fernández nos ha guiado de manera espectacular y con una descripción muy pero muy completa de estos lugares maravillosos que tiene esta región. Nos vamos a ir de San Sebastian muy felices y complacidos. Hoy en particular por la excursión a cargo de Iker, que repito muy completas sus explicaciones pero muy ameno y cordial. My daughter, granddaughter and I visited Bilbao, Gaztelugatxe and the Guggenheim Museum today with Josean, our local tour guide. Josean is personable and very well informed. We loved talking to him about the history and culture of the Basque region. Even with the weather being rainy we all had a great experience. It’s my first time hiring a local guide on a trip abroad and I will certainly consider doing it again after today’s experience. Not only was Josean a great guide and careful driver but he sent me a recipe for Basque cheesecake which I’ll be sure to try when I get home to NYC.

Hemos hecho el tour por la costa Guipuzcoana con Iker y lo recomiendo 100%!! Aparte de ser precioso, da gusto hacer las excursiones con gente que se nota que aman su trabajo, y con la energía positiva y la predisposicion de ayudar con todo de Iker. De verdad que no os lo perdais!!

Iker ha sido nuestro guía y ha hecho de esta excursión una experiencia muy positiva. Hemos visitado tres pueblos y en todo momento ha habido muy buen rollo, ha sido interesante y ha habido tiempo para todo (explicaciones del guía, contemplar paisajes, hacer fotos e incluso parar en alguna tienda). Our tour guide Asier gave us an excellent experience visiting two wineries in the Rioja Region, he was an excellent member of our group and we all had a great time conversing through the day. In between destinations we stayed on our schedule while taking a beautiful scenic route through the countryside to view a few extra landmarks. He also was our food captain at lunch and ordered something perfect to offset the meat and cheese heavy morning.

Yesterday my husband & I took a day tour from San Sebastián to Gaztelugatxe & Bilbao. We had a very hot day so our wonderful guide Josean took us to the viewing point to see Gaztelugatxe. It was not a day to take the steep walk out to the island! We had a nice walk through the old town of Bilbao & enjoyed a traditional lunch in the main plaza before visiting the Guggenheim. We had a great day & appreciated the information Josean gave us along the way & also some tips for good places to visit in & around San Sebastián. We highly recommend this tour & our guide Josean.

We had such an amazing day with Nora. From the moment we met her she was friendly, warm, and easy to talk to. She knew so much about the places we visited & shared fun stories and history that made everything more interesting. Nora went out of her way to make sure our trip was comfortable and interesting. She adjusted the plans so we could go at our own pace, answered all our questions, and even found extra spots to visit that we would never have found on our own. Because of her, we saw beautiful places and felt connected to the culture in a special way. We finished the day with big smiles, great memories, and so many amazing photos. If you want a guide who is kind, knows a lot, and makes the whole day fun, Nora is the best choice. We are so thankful for her and would book with her again in a heartbeat.

Hicimos el tour a San Juan de Gatzelugatxe, Mundaka y Guernica. José, el guía, ha sido muy simpático y amable. La primer parada fue a San Juan de Gatzelugatxe, subimos hasta la ermita. Es un poco duro pero valió la pena, vistas muy bonitas. Aquí es donde más rato estuvimos, es el mejor momento para tomar algo. Las siguientes paradas, Mundaka y Guernica, fueron más breves, pero igual de interesantes.

Hemos hecho la excursión a San Juan de Gaztelugatxe y nuestro guía Jose ha sido excelente, transmitiendo con gran pasión la historia de estos sitios tan importantes para la historia de España. Yesterday we did a tour to Gernika, Mundaka and Gaztelugatxe from Bilbao with Asier and it was just great. The group was small and the car comfortable enough. Asier was an excellent guide, full of knowledge and interesting stories explaining us the history of the region generously and thoroughly. La excursión al Valle del Batzan ha sido fantástica. En sí, tanto Elizondo como las Cuevas de Zugarramurdi son visitas obligadas cuando vienes a Navarra. Sin embargo, nuestra visita fue aún más especial gracias a nuestra guía Eider. Sus conocimientos de historia y su forma amena y cercana de trasmitirla nos hizo apreciar aún más estas dos joyas del patrimonio histórico y cultural navarro. Además, es una excelente conductora. No es fácil llevar una furgoneta de 9 plazas por las carreteras del Batzan. Nos trasmitió mucha tranquilidad.

Great tour with our guide José who is very knowledgeable about the history of Bilbao. We visited the old and new towns and learned about how Bilbao grew dramatically in the 1950s and 60s as the industrialisation of the city gathered pace. We also learnt about the serious flooding in 1983. José also gave us some very good recommendations for bars and restaurants that evening. Very good value for money. 👍

Andrea was a great guide, sharing the city's Basque history and culture from a local's point of view. The pace was comfortable and he gave us plenty of Pintxos bar recommendations to continue our evening. Highly recommend!

We did the tour from Bilbao to Gaztelugatxe, Gernika and Mundaka with Adur who was a wonderful tour guide! He led the group very well, kept everyone informed of the plan for the day and provided us with lots of information throughout the day about the area and culture so we came away feeling like we had learnt a lot about the Basque Country. Adur also made a clear effort to speak to everyone which was impressive given the coach load of people on the tour! Adur also gave us some brilliant recommendations for the rest of our trip in Bilbao bWould highly recommend this tour and thank you Adur!

Eider took us to two Rioja Alta wineries. Louis Cañas and Tritium. We also had a wonderful lunch in Laguardia. We travelled as a whole family and everyone was very accommodating to our teenagers who didn’t drink. We rode in a very comfortable van to/from Pamplona. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely tour starting in Bilbao. We spent a few days in Bilbao and wanted to explore more of the region. Therefore we chose a tour where we could see two smaller towns, Guernika and Mundaka. We got a lot of great information from our tour guide Adur. He gave us the most important insights always acompanied with a funny story. Our highlight was the walk to the island Gaxtelugatxe. We had lovely wheater and a great view from the top of the island. Wonderful to see the coast side of the country! Good organized tour, all in time - highly recommended.

My wife and I toured Gaztelugatxe and the Guggenheim Museum with Paul. He was a great guide - highly knowledgeable across a range of issues, entertaining, curious, warm and engaging - and a superb driver. We couldn’t recommend him and the Local Experts team more highly.

Loved the wine tour to the Rioja region that included 2 wineries. We had 2 great guides, Josean and Eider. They each filled us in about the countryside and rich traditions. We got to see a large winery and a smaller one, making for a great and interesting contrast. Our tour included not only wine tasting but a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in LaGuardia! Asier was a wonderful guide for our tour of Gernika, Mundaka and Gaztelugatxe. He was knowledgeable of the history of the area and the different world events and how they impacted each area. He was constantly making sure we were doing okay and engaged us in interesting conversations. He helped use learn some basic basque words and shared recommendations of basque meals we should try. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in learning basque history and seeing the beautiful countryside outside Bilbao.

Asier was the best guide. He was charming, easy to talk to, and very patient as I very slowly walked up the hill of Gaztelugatxe. I learned a lot about the Basque region, Gernika, and the civil war from talking with Asier. I would love to go on another tour with him.

Adur was a great guide and added so much to what was a great trip. He had a wealth of relevant knowledge and a stack of interesting anecdotes. His English was word perfect and he kept us all on time, so there was absolutely no stress about the schedule. All three stops were interesting in their own way (and so different), but the walk to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe was our favourite. You need sensible shoes and a modicum of fitness, but the effort is without doubt worth it!

I had a fantastic day on the Gernika, Mundaka, and Gaztelugatxe trip. Our guide Adur was superb and really made the trip. He shared his family history at Gernika and was clearly passionate about sharing his wealth of knowledge of the Basque Country. He made noticiable effort to speak personally to everyone on the trip, even though we were a large bus load. All of the information was given in both English and Spanish. I undertook 3 Local Expert tours whilst in San Sebastián all booked and highly recommended by my travel consultant and now comment on the three guides. Fabian, Javier and Iker. (Each in my book warrants a 5 star rating) Fabian was my San Sebastián Pinxtos tour guide. He was extremely engaging and knowledgeable about San Sebastián history/region (not just the food and drink aspect). He took our small group to 5 venues for the most amazing Pinxtos and wine/cider tasting all from the local region. He explained in detail everything about what we ate and drank. He was also super sensitive to any dietary requirements. I felt very much part of the culture and had a truly wonderful evening. Totally recommend Fabian for this delightful gastronomic tour. Javier was my guide for the two wine cellars visit and tasting in La Rioja. Javier is extremely knowledgeable about this region and wine making. The two vineyards we visited were very different but each was fascinating. I learnt so much about wine making, the culture, traditions and Javier was well able to answer any additional queries we had after we had left the wineries. As a San Sebastián born and bred resident he could impart much knowledge of the region in addition to his amazing knowledge of the wines and wine making processes. The tastings in both wineries were both delicious and generous and were accompanied by local cold meats, cheese and bread. We were even treated to a most delicious lunch after our wine tours had finished. Absolutely recommend Javier as a tour guide. Iker was my amazing guide for the Bilbao and San Juan de Gaztelugatze tour. He is born and bred in San Sebastián and is passionate about his role as a guide. He loves sharing his knowledge of the region and could answer any questions our small group had. He knows so much and readily shares knowledge with his clients. He was extremely considerate due to the very hot day, and we managed to see all that was promised and even more whilst wandering around Bilbao. Iker’s suggestions for lunch taking into account any special requests were delicious. Iker was great - he had a very pleasant and friendly personality always adding interesting anecdotes as we travelled. This was a really fun and interesting tour brought to life by Iker. We concluded with a tour of the Gugenheim museum. Highly recommend this day tour and absolutely recommend Iker as a tour guide.

We had an amazing Rioja wine tour that exceeded all expectations. The itinerary included two distinctly different wineries, which gave us great insight into the variety and depth of the region’s winemaking. We got to taste a wide range of wines and learn a lot about the Rioja wine industry. Our guides, Íker and Ader, were outstanding, super informative, friendly, and clearly passionate about the region and its wines. He made the experience engaging from start to finish. We took the van tour from San Sebastián to Zarautz, Getaria, and Zumaia with our guide, Iker—and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! Each stop along the Basque coast offered something special. In Zarautz, we enjoyed the expansive beach and scenic views. In Getaria, Iker guided us through the charming town, showing us the chapel that houses a model of Elkano’s ship and the monuments commemorating his historic circumnavigation of the globe. It was fascinating and added real depth to the visit. Our final stop, Zumaia, was absolutely stunning. The dramatic cliffs and rock formations were breathtaking—truly a highlight of the day. Excellent tour operator! We took the tour Zarautz, Getaria and Zumaia from San Sebastián and loved seeing the coastal views. We were picked up at our hotel by Iker. He is a life long local of San Sebastián and he shared historical facts and much more about the area we would not have known. He took us to several beautiful spots for photos. Amazing day in Bilbao including 2 hour hike up and down San Juan Gaztelugatxe!!!!

My teen daughter and I took a 4 hour guided tour of Hondarriba, San Juan and San Pedros. Iker was our guide - and he really brought the locations to live with stories and facts that we would have easily overlooked on our own. He is friendly and knowledgeable- and kept us on track despite the light rain. He was also great with questions and patient. Highly recommend - and ask for Iker.

Tours like this (San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, or Dragonstone to GOT fans) really come down to two things, the weather and the guide. You can't control the weather, but we got lucky with that. We got even luckier with our guide, Asier. HIs knowledge of the areas we visited, combined with his obvious pride in the Basque culture and region very much elevated the experience for us all and he was even taking time to help people with recommendations on other things to do in Bilbao. Very highly recommend.

Cannot recommend enough. Our guide Jesu was excellent. He was knowledgeable, passionate and went well above and beyond. We had a fantastic tour of Bilbao's Old Town this morning. Our local guide Nora was so warm and knowledgeable about her home city, my 19 year old daughter and I could have listened to her all day! She knew so much about the history and architecture and loved to engage with her clients about where we came from/our interests, years which made it very personal. A bike tour led by a guide with a good explanation. However, the confirmation of the tour stated that we would receive a bike helmet, which was not offered to us. The tour was on an old rickety bike. We did not receive any further instructions before the bike tour. The traffic rules were also not observed by the guide. Several times the red traffic light was ignored.

Arun, our guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, excellent language skills & humorous. Highly recommended. Just be aware the walking on the Gaztelugatxe part amounts to nearly 5 miles for the day, with several sections 35% grade up AND down ( in total we walked nearly 7 miles, including getting to the “The Puppy” meeting point). We were lucky that the day was only 70 degrees & cloudy. Bring water. We really enjoyed the whole day as it was good to get some major exercise, our quads, hamstrings & glutes got a workout! The bus was also high quality, comfortable seats, AC & smooth ride.

Went on the wine tour around two local wineries. Fascinating to understand and see how wine is produced and graded at these two local wineries. The guides were obviously knowledgeable about their products. However the guide (Adur) who drove us around was fantastic, chatty and knowledge left about the area. A real gem

Fantastic Tour Albie was great. Love these small groups.

We were anxious about the start time of our tour since we found out belatedly that our cruise ship was staying on ship's time (UK) which was an hour later than Spain time. We communicated this to the tour operator who agreed to wait another hour for us. We met our tour guide Javier at the agreed spot. He picked us up in a shiny black Mercedes. We were 7 - our family of 4 (two seniors, one adult, and an 8-year-old) and a young couple with a 20-month-old. Javier was unsure that all of us would make it on the strenuous hike up to the church in Gaztelugatxe. Well, we all did it! He made sure to keep tabs on the slowest of us (me) and that we were all doing all right. The hike is on uneven terrain and uphill. It is not for the faint of heart. We watched seemingly able-bodied people turn around and quit! Javier was proud that our entire group made it. He said 50% of visitors quit before finishing! (The 20-month-old rode on his mom's back in a baby carrier.) The visits to the other two areas were much less strenuous but also interesting. I especially liked seeing the bomb shelter simulation in Gernika and learning about its history during WW2. Javier was an amazing guide, and we had a great time. Highly recommend!

Our tour of Hondarribia 💚, San Juan 🩷, and San Pedro💜 from San Sebastián was fantastic. Iker is a wonderful guide. We enjoyed our tour from the moment Iker picked us up at our hotel in the black Audi. Iker is very proud of this part of the world and loves to share his experience with visitors on his tours. We learnt so much in a few hours - I am not going to share the secrets he shared here - they are for him to share with you! And you will understand the colours of the heart of each town.

This was an excellent tour, Gaztelugatxe was beautiful. Jose was great guide and provided detailed information for every site. This tour has plenty of time for Gaztelugatxe, but you should not expect much left for Mundaka and Gernika. On the other hand, later two sites, especially Gernaka, are not that big, so it was still worth visiting.

Did the tour of Hondarribia and San Juan and San Pedro. It was our second time to do it. Our guide was Iker and he was very knowledgeable of the local history and willing to answer questions from the group. He went at the groups pace ( I myself use a stick and have some mobility issues ). I would highly recommend him and the trip. It was a lovely way to spend 4 hours and Hondarribia is beautiful.

Our guide, Adur, picked us up promptly at our hotel where we joined the rest of the group. Adur communicated in a very friendly way that made everyone on the tour feel welcome. From the time we stepped onto the minivan, Adur was a wealth of information about what we were seeing along the drive and at the various sites. Our first stop was the impressive and invigorating walk to Gaztelugatxe. Although we were the slowest walkers in a group, both in our 70s, Adur was very encouraging and let us know. It was OK to take some rests along the way. We appreciated the way in which Adur integrated his own personal experience and that of his family into the telling of the Basque history. Spending time and learning about Guernica, was really moving. My husband and I would both recommend this tour for anyone who is in the Bilbao region.

The tour today was great! Eduardo was knowledgeable and friendly. He kept us moving along but paced the day really well. The highlight for me was Guernica and the poem he read to us in the park, “My Father’s House.” What a moving way to end a day filled with important Basque history and culture. Eskerrik asko!

We booked this small group tour that was limited to 6 people. Imagine our delight to find out we had this tour all to ourselves! We had Javier as our guide to Biarritz, Bayonne and St. Jean de Luc. Javier is the perfect guide - he is a native of this Spanish/French Basque region, he is very informative of the differences in culture between each region, he loves to talk about the past, present and future including economics and immigration, as well as providing his personal experiences of todays Basque region versus one of 30 or 40 years ago . The pace was perfect, the countryside was breathtaking, the towns were charming, and the scenery was unbelievable. Highly recommend this tour and if you’re lucky you’ll have Javier guide you through your journey.

Adur is a rock star! En serio! His knowledge is incredible and he is fun, funny and an amazing conversationalist! Our tour of Bilbao and the pintxo pote experience was in English but he speaks so many languages it makes me dizzy. Or maybe that’s just the result of the laughter tonight and the amazing good time! El tour de Zarautz, Oria, Getaria y Zumaia ha sido espectacular! Coche cómodo, limpio y seguro. Con vistas de parajes inolvidables, mucha historia e información importante con el guía que además bromea y te hace reír, Iker te recomienda luego al volver a San Sebastián lo que necesites saber del lugar. I did the tour of the Biscay Coast: Gatzelugatze, Mundaka, and Gernika. Our guide, Pillar, was absolutely fantastic. She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and very energetic! She also was incredibly kind. I had injured my ankle a few days earlier. Pillar ensured that I had a wonderful experience even though my ankle precluded me from doing all the activities. In sum, I cannot recommend this wonderful tour, or our outstanding guide, Pillar, highly enough. Amy

Wenn ich könnte, würde ich 20 Sterne geben... Ich habe die Tour von Bilbao nach Gaztelugatxe, Mundaka und Gernika gebucht. Wir hatten traumhaftes Wetter und die Orte, die uns Adur gezeigt hat, waren traumhaft schön. Er hat unsere Gruppe mit seiner unglaublich sympathischen und humoristischen Art sofort gefangen und uns mit seinem wahnsinnig breiten historischen und allgemeinem Wissen inklusive Fun Facts des Baskenlandes beeindruckt. Wir haben nach der Tour auch Tipps für Pintxos-Bars und die besten (subjektiv) Tortillas Trufada bekommen. Ich hätte dir noch ewig zuhören können, am liebsten wäre mir, die Tour hätte nie geendet!! Danke für dieses Highlight meiner Reise, Adur! Ich kann die Tour wärmstens empfehlen - eine unbezahlbare Erfahrung! :)

Today , we did the San Sebastián Basque Coast tour and it was wow! Our tour guide was Iker , so friendly , very informative, sharing the all the info from the city that it was possible. He was on time to pick up us at the hotel in Pamplona and drove to San Sabastian. So much fun! We visited San Sebastián, went to a place with a beautiful view, we had Pintxos, went to Getaria and Zumaia, really nice ! Highly recommended!

We did a walking tour of Donastia( San Sebastián ) Our tour guide Imanol was very interesting, friendly, and full of local history. We were the only 2 on the tour of the City! We ended up in a lovely bar, with a glass of red+ pintxos, Highly recommend to visitors.

What an amazing day! The hike to Gaztelugatxe was challenging, but worth every step. And, the visits to Mundaka and Gernika on market day (10/26/24) were just perfect. The best part of the trip though was our guide Adur’s knowledgeable and engaging commentary throughout. We highly recommend this adventure!

We had an incredible foodie experience. Our guide, Fabian, was knowledgeable, personable and sensitive to the needs of everyone on the tour. The places Fabian brought us to were very tasty and wonderfully reflective of the rich San Sebastian produce and culture. The tour group size was small and Fabian sat with us sharing about the history of the food and tapas location.

Our walking tour with Jose was time (and money) very well spent! His pride in and knowledge of Bilbao shone through, and we learned all sorts of fascinating tidbits about past and present life in the city, from las sirgueras to los txikiteros. He also airdropped us a list of restaurant and visit recommendations, and assured us we could call him at any time during our stay if we needed help or advice. Loved it.

Very good trip to Hondarribia, San Pedro & San Juan with Felix. He was very knowledgeable and interesting and pick up was on time. He also extended the tour a little because we were enjoying it so much! Definitely recommended when staying in San Sebastián.

Pedro was our tour guide. He was knowledgeable about the Basque history and provided us with some interesting facts about the areas we visited. Pedro was with us at each stop and explained to us about the places. I would have skipped the Mundaka and chosen to stay longer in Guernica instead. It has a much richer history than a regular seat town. But the entire trip was packed with actions and facts. I really enjoyed it. (It was a small group of 6 and the driver Pedro.)

We did the full day Rioja tour with Alby. Totally worth the money. Alby was such a great guide lots of local knowledge. The vineyards were amazing one more traditional and the second was making single varietals Lunch was delicious with lots of Basque specialties. Thanks Alby for an amazing day

We really enjoyed our tour, especially seeing Game of Thrones' Dragonstone and would gladly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bilbao.

My wife and I returned from our trip to San Sebastian. One of our excursions was to Hondarribia, San Juan & San Pedro from San Sebastian through Local Experts tour company. Our tour guide was Begonia. It was very enjoyable experience. While walking through old and modern part of the Hondarriba she introduced us to history and culture of Basque country. The high point of the tour was visiting Mount Jaizkibel where from the top you get a magnificent view of the bay of Txingudi, Hondarribia and Hendaye. We highly recommend this tour and especially Begonia as your guide.

Local expert Iker walked six of us around the city he loves telling us the history of San Sebastián and guiding us through the busy streets ending up with some excellent pintxos (bar snacks) and txakolí (basque wine). He also whatsapp'd us at the end of the tour giving suggestions for other pintxos bars to visit and a recipe for the best burnt basque cheesecake in the world.
