Aldertons of Spain

Popped in to Aldertons this afternoon with a rather tricky little problem which we thought would be very difficult to solve. How wrong we were!! The lovely Emma & Stephanie sorted the whole thing out within a matter of minutes ……. TOTALLY AMAZING!!! All done with great humour & efficiency too …….. if I could give them 100 stars, I most definitely would!!!

I needed an Appointment for my TIE card for work purposes. Normal waiting period is around 3 months, but Emma and the team worked their magic and I had an appointment the very next week! Very professional and caring team! 11/10

Terrible experience with EU family residency applications. We paid €1137 up front in March. With no progress happening, we then had to push for an N.I.E application in May. With yet still no progress we cancelled their services in July and opted to use our Gestor instead, who was assisting us with our house purchase. He got us an appointment in 2 weeks. We have only just received a partial refund from Aldertons in late October!! Basically it has cost us €639 for one N.I.E application. My advice go to a local Gestor who can actually get appointments and will answer their emails.

Prachtig nieuw appartement met een fantastisch panoramisch uitzicht. Alles was brandschoon en compleet ingericht, precies zoals je hoopt. Rustig gelegen én toch centraal, aan de rand van Moraira. De bedden waren heerlijk comfortabel (medium stevigheid). We zijn bovendien ontzettend gastvrij en hartelijk geholpen door Gemma – echt een aanrader!

Aldertons has been great! We have used them twice. They got me an appointment for my fingerprints for EU family scheme very quickly after we were waiting for another lawyer to get us one for 5 months. Thank you so much to Stephanie.

We decided to move to Spain two years ago, discovered Aldertons slightly by accident but can honestly say that without their huge fund of knowledge, gentle guidance and good humour we would have really struggled with the Spanish bureaucracy and would have probably managed to break some laws somewhere without realising. They made it all very easy and stress-free, were always available in person or by E-mail and always had the right answers. In particular Emma has been our guiding light, she has always pointed us in the right direction.

Natan and I decided to look for our dream house in Spain, and after not finding it in other parts of Spain, we decided to look in the Costa Blanca region. Luckily for us, while randomly browsing the internet we came across Joan Alderton from "Aldertons of Spain" and contacted her. It was the best thing we could do. Long before we arrived in Spain, Joan made herself available to us for every question and concern regarding every aspect, angle and layer of the complex process of finding and buying a house on the Costa Blanca. We held three long and detailed Zoom meetings in which Joanne thoroughly learned our needs and desires, reviewed listings of various properties with us, while authentically cultivating a positive, productive and very friendly atmosphere. Today we finished a wonderful twelve day enlightening journey with Joanne Alderton and her charming team member, Marinne, here in Costa Blanca. The voyage began with a full day of in-depth immersion with the whole area, and of course continued with profound visits to many beautiful properties, which were chosen with great care in a fruitful and friendly collaboration between Joanne and us. Joanne took us in her car to all the potential properties, patiently explaining and elaborating to us the characteristics of each area, the advantages and disadvantages she finds in each property, the potential that lies in each property, and much more, and all this with complete honesty and directness that gave us the feeling that we have someone to fully trust in this complex and emotional process. Do not rent a vacation home through Aldertons of Spain! Stay away from them, because they unjustly withhold a lot of your deposit and the communication is poor. Last winter I rented a vacation home for 2 months; villa Bouganvillea in Benissa. From the beginning, communication with Aldertons of Spain was very difficult. Questions before renting are not answered. Or they promise to get back to you, which never happens. Only when we decided to visit their office, we finally got answers. But we never got an answer after the check-in to a.o. where the energy meters were, so that we could note the initial readings. We didn't see a problem with that at the time because Aldertons of Spain had good reviews, so we didn't expect any hassle. We travel a lot and have rented many houses during those trips. Moreover, we have 10 years of rental experience ourselves as rental agents, and therefore know how a landlord/broker likes his/her house to be returned after a rental. So we always deliver the rental houses completely clean upon departure. Only the bedding has to be washed. The staff member at check-out was therefore quite surprised during the check-out and said that it was so clean that maybe no cleaning crew needed to come at all. But the deposit was just not returned. Every time I asked about it, there was another excuse. First they were waiting for the internet bill. But that is a fixed rate. And that rate was of course known, because for the first month we had already paid it. So then you expect to get your deposit back quickly. But it didn’t come and I asked again. Then it was said that, because it took so long, we did not have to pay the cost of washing the bedding. Nice, but then the deposit was still not paid back. By now it had been 7 weeks since we had left the house. So again we had to inquire. Especially since by now we had read in the reviews that some of the 5-star reviews were fake, because they were written by friends. Then the new excuse of Aldertons of Spain was that they had a system error, so they could not yet refund the deposit. And suddenly, that same day, I received money. From a bank account of a private person! But not the paid deposit of € 1,200.00. I was only refunded € 690.00. That had to be a mistake, especially since they had promised to cover the cost of washing the bedding themselves and it was said that maybe a cleaning crew didn't even have to go because it was already clean. Then it turned out that they had charged a.o. € 302.50 cleaning fee. Without us having to pay the costs for washing the bedding. While we know from experience that up to about € 115.00 (including bedding) is normal for a 2 bedroom house. But we had delivered the whole house in mint condition. And then, even without the costs for laundry, they charged almost 3x as much as normal! Also the costs for 2 months water consumption were pretty high. But I could not check that, since they had not responded to the request at the beginning to indicate where we could take meter readings. Maybe because you can then calculate it yourself? When I complained, I was told that they charge € 302.50 for cleaning by default. In a Booking.com ad, I could have seen that. But I did not book with Booking.com, but directly through Aldertons. If I had known the cleaning fees, I would never have booked! Their contract terms state that they mention any additional charges up front in an additional email. But that didn't happen. They didn't even bother after I reported that there were 2 different amounts (€1,200 and €1,950) for deposit mentioned in the contract, to indicate what the real deposit amount was. Maybe it's a good thing I only put down € 1,200 as a deposit. Otherwise they probably would have screwed me even worse.....

I never give scathing reviews, but in this case I feel like it is a duty. If you are a professional, you will not expect the same service here. I am happy to disclose privately how poor the service was. Please contract REAL lawyer's and professionals for your needs. Be careful. They are all marketing and no substance, oh and I wait with bated breathe for an apology for their lack of competence...indeed, there will be none except I imagine a response here to validate their lack of unprofessional behaviour on here. Well done Aldertons you truly made my life a nightmare but thankfully is being sorted out by an agency that actually cares about it's clients, responds in a timely manner, puts applications in at the right time - not 4 months later, and has all expectations set from the beginning.

Joanne gave us a professional & comprehensive orientation tour of the Marina Alta. She picked us up at 10am & dropped us off around 4pm. In those hours we enjoyed her stories of what life is like living in the area, we sampled a local cafe & food court & got to see gorgeous coves & scenic areas off the beat & track. Firstly they have not been property hunting with Altertons as the review leads you to believe! I recommend Altertons to Mr Tony McGee and we attended their offices about their residency service, we had a very good and informative meeting and mr McGee was very please to employ their services when the time comes. I have personal positive experience with this company as they have helped us with residency, driving licences and car importation. They are extremely professional and every member of staff are knowledgeable and willing to help and give advice! I highly recommend Altertons and wouldn’t use any other gestor service! They deserve more than 5* The fake review has been reported and I hope google removes it asap.

Great experience with Aldertons Benissa. Had been waiting 17th months with another Hestor for Residencia. Registered with Aldertons and gained Residencia just over 3 months later.. It was a bit rushed getting last minute 'upto date' paperwork for the appointment but with their help it was all gathered and appointment in Benidorm was straightforward. Aldertons are currently dealing with my transfer to Spanish driving licence.

I do not recommend this company as some of the reviews under here are actually from friends of the owners. I discovered this having eaten at a local restaurant. The approach to everything is unprofessional. They have members of staff that turn up to work smelling of wine. They go around promoting that they help with relocation and property finding, however they promote their own listings and push the sale of their interest. They certainly do not operate as an independent property finding company, and they actually promote forceful sales. We visited their offices and were displeased with their service provided so far.

Last week we had a great day out with Gillian of Alderton's. She showed us all sorts of lovely places to help us get an idea of where we'd like to live when we move from the Netherlands to Spain next year. Gillian and her colleagues have made us feel really welcome and we're looking forward to seeing Gillian again on our next visit. I believe they'll make all the difference to us on this life-changing journey toward our retirement in Spain.

Had an orientation tour with Jo and Gillian and it was superb. They are both extremely knowledgable and we learnt a lot about the area that we are wanting to move to as well as it being a fun day. We are now dealing with Emma to obtain our visas. Thank you ladies 😊

No puedo hablar nada bien de esta empresa, al menos lo poco responsables que son, en una reunion de trabajo, se les cayó un cafe sobre nuestro ordenador portátil, nos dijeron que lo iban a tramitar con su seguro, despues de 1 año sigo esperando que paguen el ordenador roto, les llamo y solo hacen que decir mentiras. We have just spent almost 3 weeks house hunting with Aldertons. They also helped us with applying for our NIEs, gave us very good visa advice and quickly connected us to a really excellent lawyer. They’re a great team - friendly, helpful and so professional. Having their support was a massive help to us and we really wouldn’t have known where to start with it all. Though we are learning Spanish, we are nowhere good enough to manage the admin side of things and having Emma to help us make our notary appointment and Stephanie to accompany us was so reassuring. Need to give a massive thanks to Gillian who absolutely worked her socks off - finding us properties and sorting out viewings. She is really lovely too - thanks so much Gillian !

A big shout out to Aldertons team. They go above and beyond. They have dealt with our TIE, residencia, changing and registering our Uk cars into Spanish plates, SIP health cards, driving licenses and International driving licenses. I genuinely couldn't recommend Aldertons more. I finally got my residency this morning so excuse any mistakes as I have had a couple of beers celebrating.
