Miguel is one of the best guides i have ever seen in all my days on this planet. He explained the whole history, and gave us an in depth analysis, tour and reccomendations while still being extremely entertaining and easy to follow! The guy pours his soul into the craft. Our trip wouldn't have been the same without going on this tour. It gives you a new perspective on things and you get a proper plan on what are the things to do and the things to skip. I suggest you book it first day in your trip to make your experience worthwhile!

We enjoyed the Free Spirit Bilbao walking tour of the old town area with Miguel. Seeing the red umbrella in the square, set us up for a great tour. He was charismatic and engaged with all members of our group. The Basque nation have a great Ambassador with Miguel. He recounted the history and today's governance with enthusiasm and pride. Great tips on modes of transport, sights not to be missed and places to enjoy food and drinks. We highly recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful tour by Miguel, he was friendly, his explanations were interesting and insightful, the tour wasn't too long and he made efforts to make sure everyone is comfortable and that the tour meets all ages needs (including baby strollers)

I took a free walking tour of the Bilbao old town with Miguel and it was one of the best walking tours I have done in Europe. Miguel - being a local - shared a great wealth of knowledge about Bilbao, Basque Country and various places to go and things to see in and around the area. This walking tour is essential for anyone who is new to Bilbao and wants to learn how to best experience the city, and to understand the history of the Basque region. Miguel was our tour guide and he is exceptional in this role. His comprehensive knowledge of the Basque region, the language and the cuture, and the way in which he presented the tour was really excellent. The humor with which he described and explained things was brilliant. We got lots of recommendations about places to visit and places to eat, and how best to commute around the region. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and I will recommend anyone visiting Bilbao to check in with Free Spirit Bilbao and organize a walking tour of the Old City.

After some research for our visit to Bilbao at the end of March we booked a bike tour with Miguel. Unfortunately this had to be cancelled due to rain being forecast for the day of the tour. Miguel apologised and suggested we make alternative plans for that day. This was not an issue as there is plenty to do and see in Bilbao. Miguel contacted us later in the weekend and suggested rescheduling the tour. Unfortunately we could not do this as we we going home. Miguel said he would arrange a refund and he later did so in full. Based on our this experience with Miguel we would certainly book a tour with him on our next visit to Bilbao - hopefully later this year.

The best walking tour with Miguel! We are a group of 6 friends and joined Miguel for the Bilbao immersion with drinks and pinxtos. He talks about his city with knowledge, love and passion. We learnt so much, not just about the history, but also about the culture, the people and the local way of life. Miguel also shared great local tips about transport and places to visit. I would highly recommend doing this tour early in your visit to Bilbao. Miguel helped us get to grips with the city and we felt so much better equipped to plan the rest of our stay. Loved the gastronomy tour with Miguel. He is interesting, respectful, full of knowledge and experience. His pride and passion for all things Basque makes you fall in love with Bilboa. The tour is centred around the history of the city and region, the people, the food, the here and now. We were just going to go for the free morning walking tour, but changed to the gastronomy one to experience pintxos, and were so happy we did.

Miguel provided an excellent tour - the best we've had in any city! We were happy to tip him well. Miguel taught us about the Basque language and culture, including features of the area that were integral to the creation of that culture. He was very pleasant and easy-going, with excellent English. He explained how the transit system works so we were able to explore the city fully on the following days. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the tour as we did not make it to meeting place, but Miguel was in touch straight away to help also offered us alternative tour on other date but we were leaving the following day and could not avail. I can certainly recommend Free Spirit Bilbao tours for their customer care and thoughtfulness which is hard to come by these days. Thank you we will be sure to book with you again next time

On October 23, 2024, my husband and I joined Miguel for the best walking tour EVER! The location was old Bilbao. Miguel’s an extraordinary guide who gave us an unforgettable introduction to Basque history and culture as we walked through the charming streets of the old town. This was no dull recitation of dates and facts, but rather, an engaging, fun outing with a new Basque friend and several other English-speaking walkers whom we met just that day. Miguel exudes a true appreciation for Bilbao and its people. His style is authentic, charming, humorous, and informed. It was easy to see that he enjoys sharing this special place with his tour groups, and genuinely delights in chatting with us as a group and also separately as individuals. In fact, he had as many questions for us about why we were there and where we were from as we had for him. He had great recommendations for other Bilbao excursions on our own. The pace of the tour was flexible for everyone’s needs and desires. So we stopped in at pastry shops, dawdled through the marketplace, and took water or bathroom breaks as needed without affecting the rhythm of the experience. I only hope that we can return to Bilbao to enjoy the pintxos, basque cheese, and the charms of the city many more times (we’ll schedule another tour with Miguel!). And for sure we will try to attend an Athletic Club football match, so popular in Bilbao and the pride of Basque Country (and Miguel).

De gids is niet op komen dagen. Was niet te bereiken via whatsapp en nam zijn telefoon niet op. Een half uur na de afgesproken tijd heeft hij ineens een “noodgeval”. Ik zou het afraden deze fietstour te boeken.

Amazing bike rental!! I can highly recommend Free Spirit for bike rentals! The bikes are in very good condition and the price is great. Miguel (the owner) is very friendly. It’s easy to contact him via WhatsApp in advance to reserve a bike. When I arrived he helped me to set up the bike and recommend a route along the cost which was simply amazing! Fietsen via de website geboekt en stonden binnen 10 minuten klaar, wel wat moeite om de locatie te vinden. Verder waren de fietsen in prima conditie en licht van gewicht wat het makkelijk maakt om de trappen en soms steile wegen makkelijk over te komen. Ook kan er een route gevolgd worden die word gegeven bij het halen van de fietsen.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE TOUR! Ceci was a fantastic guide on our bike tour of beautiful Getxo. She was informative and really allowed us to take our time and enjoy the sights, sounds, and TASTES of this magnificent area. We've fallen in love with Getxo because of this tour. BTW, if Ceci offers some suggestions on food after the tour, take them. She knows her stuff!

We hired 3 bikes to ride around the roads and cycle lanes in Gatxo, Bilbao. Free Spirit Bilbao were faultless. Easy to book, responsive to questions and proactive in finding out what our needs were. They gave us good directions to meet, and were there on time. The bikes were in good condition, easy to ride and had all the necessary parts and accessories. Miguel showed is the Kamoot app and a 20km route which we followed. All at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Had an awesome bike rental from Miguel. Just turned up on the day. Miguel came and found us on the street. He’s super flexible. Gave us a great recommendation for lunch. Picked up the bikes for half a day and followed his route which was really helpful. Kids had the best day of the holiday. Can’t recommend this guy enough. We’ll be back for sure. Thanks Miguel..!!!

Great way to explore a lovely seaside city as a contrast to Bilbao. The tour gave us a great experience from different vantage points and it was great to be able to explore safely on designated bike lanes.

It’s a great tour. Fairly easy pedalling. Great pincho stop. Great contrast to Bilbao city. Note that the start is 10-12km from Bilbao old town, but easily accessible by metro.

We were taking the Seaside bike tour with Miguel and really enjoyed it: the bikes are in very good condition, the distance is easily manageable, Miguel frequently stops to give insights into city, sights and basque history. Definite highlight was the stop at a neighborhood café for some pinxtos and refreshments in the old fishermen part of Algorta. I highly recommend this tour!

We took the bike tour through Bilbao's seaside and it was absolutely amazing. The bike ride itself was beautiful and accessible (and I'm by no means an avid cyclist), and the tour was personalized and full of really interesting information that gave me a great sense of what makes Bilbao and Basque Country special. I cannot recommend this tour and Free Spirit Bilbao highly enough!

miguel and osvaldo were really nice and good communicators. the bikes were in very good shape for rentals. and the ride along the water super relaxed.

Guide for the free walking tour did not show up. At least 5 other travellers let down. Guide from another company let us join their tour.

A great morning with Miguel touring the coastal part of Bilbao with the bicycle! The bike was in perfect conditions,the guide instructive and very willing to share his knowledge of the places visited. We started as strangers and ended up as friends,and this is very valuable! Great experience, highly recommended! The bicycle is for sure the best way to discover this area on an active way.

We rented bikes to explore the area on our own. Miguel was very friendly. He helped planning our route and gave good recommendations for foods and drinks. The bikes were in very good shape and suited for the terrain. We loved the active getaway from the city, and we would recommend it.
