Aitor guided our small group around the Basque country and it was incredible. He is extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his home. We spent one fantastic day with Aitor in Bilbao. Full of information and visits to the site we would never be able to do on our own. Aitor is pationate in showing his city and replying facts you can check and not suger coating the mishaps. This was a super introduction to Bilbao which I recommend to everybody.

If you get a chance this is a must do tour with Aitor while in San Sebastián. He is so passionate about the City and Basque culture and willing to share so much. We walked from one end of the Bay to the other - had great views from the top after riding the funicular - to awesome pintxos while hopping from bar to bar. He is very considerate and willing to be flexible to meet your own personal tastes for the tour. We ate a lot and could have spent even more time with Aitor as he is just a pleasure to be around. Note that we are a family of four age 25 to 64, speak only English, and he kept us all entertained along the way.

My wife and I were hosted today by Aitor Delgado on a delightful tour of Basque country, starting in San Sebastian and featuring Guernica and Bilbao. Aitor’s knowledge of the local history, geography and even geology made our continuous conversation interesting and entertaining. We enjoyed many great photo opportunities as well as pleasant walks. I don't usually write reviews, but I feel compelled to write this one—Aitor gave so much thought and care to my trip. I ended up booking with him twice and would do it again in a heartbeat—worth every penny. In July, I had a rare month off between finishing medical residency and starting as an attending physician. I needed a trip to rest, reset, and rediscover joy in learning outside medicine. I planned a 10-day trip through Bilbao, San Sebastián, and Biarritz, and decided to book a private guide. That's how I found Aitor. From the moment I reached out, Aitor was responsive, curious, and already thinking about how to tailor the experience. What he crafted was nothing short of spectacular. Day 1: We explored Gernika (town, museums, bomb shelter), Vitoria-Gasteiz (medieval quarter, museums, Jewish cemetery, incredible pintxos), Tower of Mendoza, and prehistoric megalithic structures. Aitor seamlessly wove in my personal identity—Jewish and LGBTQ+ history, but also my professional identity as a radiation oncologist. He launched into the history of tungsten—a metal discovered in the Basque Country that I work with daily in cancer treatment. Somehow, on a tour meant to give me space from medicine, he helped me rediscover why I fell in love with it. Day 2: Cantabrian caves (reserved months in advance—Aitor got me in!), Santillana del Mar, Altamira Museum, Las Monedas Cave, Cueva de El Pendo, and Gaudí's El Capricho. Standing in caves with 36,000-year-old art was surreal—one of my most powerful travel experiences. Aitor doesn't just customize tours—he personalizes them. He finds the thread that makes it meaningful for you. For me, that thread was tungsten. I came wanting to escape work but left reminded of how much I love science, learning, and people. Truly, every time I think about tungsten in a linear accelerator, I'll remember the Basque Country and the unexpected moment I stopped wanting to escape my future and started to embrace it. For years my husband and I have been wanting to visit the small town of FRIAS, since FRIAS is my husband’s surname, and it was a very special experience for us thanks to our guide, Aitor Delgado. He is very knowledgeable, patient, courteous and complaisant, we could not have had a better guide. In addition, he is a talented photographer and has shared many beautiful photos with us. The town of Frias is a true medieval gem nestled in La Muela hill and a must see for those visiting the area. These photos are a testament to its beauty.

Arrived in Bilboa via cruise with a group of 8. Aitor was helpful at every phase giving us guidance to meeting point and the a great tour of the Guggenheim and old town. Aitor was informative and entertaining. The food was great. He was good at accommodating the wishes of our group. Would highly recommend his tour!

The first thing I want to say is that the tour with Aitor was WWWOW!🤩🥰 And in fact, a whole day with Aitor turned out to be incredibly rich and eventful, thanks to the enthusiasm and genuine interest with which he shared numerous fascinating facts and showed us the most beautiful and breathtaking places. He is not your typical tour guide who simply reads out a history book paragraph from which you remember only three sentences. But that’s only a plus if you want to truly see and immerse yourself in the incredible beauty of these places. The stunning beauty of St. Sebastian and Gaztelugatxe will stay with us for a very long time, and the number of vivid, diverse photos with breathtaking landscapes in our gallery will last us for years. Aitor was a wonderful guide, not just for the wineries we visited, but also for the history, culture, geography, archeology, and agriculture of the Rioja region. Over the course of a very full day, he took us to four wineries, each one displaying a different style of winemaking and types of wines. It was a terrific introduction to the world-class wines of the region. We also visited vineyards to understand the agriculture in depth, several marvelous medieval towns, ancient archeological sights, and several beautiful viewpoints to understand the geography of the region. Throughout, Aitor's enthusiasm and friendliness made the day a true pleasure and while we covered a lot of ground, we didn't get tired out. We highly recommend Aitor if you need a guide in Rioja or the Basque region.

We had a wonderful day with Aitor -- learning, sightseeing, eating, etc. He was great at asking questions to figure out the best custom tour for us. Seeing the sights and reading about them is one thing, but having a knowledgeable guide give a deeper explanation and answer questions competently is much more enjoyable. Aitor easily transitioned from telling us all about the Treaty of the Pyrenees, to taking us to several places like a beautiful patisserie in Biarritz and a gourmet shop selling traditional Basque foods in Ainhoa, to discussing Basque culture and showing (and discussing) historical sights and natural beauty along the way. We packed a lot into one day, but never felt rushed. Aitor was an excellent guide that we highly recommend -- and hope to see again in the future!

We spent a wonderful day with Aitor exploring a couple of awesome wineries producing wine using traditional methods. There were wineries that we would not have seen on our own. We also had a great lunch and walking tour of Laguardia and visiting the sites in the surrounding area.

Our 3-day tour of the Basque Country with Aitor as our guide was absolutely fantastic! He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and incredibly accommodating, making the entire experience both seamless and unforgettable. I routinely organize trips for a small group of friends. We have visited many places and had many guides during our travels; most of which have been wonderful. Aitor; however, is the absolute best guide I believe we have ever had. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the Basque area, and his depth includes history, food, and culture. We were hesitant to book Aitor because his ratings appeared too good to be true. We took a "chance" which really shouldn't have been one at all. Our entire trip to La Rioja was complete in just one day under his guidance. Aitor is an expert not only in selecting wineries off the beaten path but of the history of La Rioja and the southern Basque country. From medieval towns and churches and ancient burial sites to family vineyards and gastronomical experiences nothing was missed. We appreciated him very much, but not until we experienced the tourist trap of Haro on our own did we truly understand how people can miss the TRUE La Rioja experience he delivered. Wineries like @bodegaalutiz and @bodegastatu serve wines that are punching way above their weight in quality and especially uniqueness and value, unlike the big guys in Haro (think Napa Valley vs. Sonoma County). if you want to see a true passion for winemaking, visit Paula at @bodegaalutiz for a visit into third generation winemaking that truly takes you to the depths of a family's love for the fruit of the vine. We saw ancient burial sites, learned about Spain's history and ate some amazing food in a medieval walled town (@restaurantesugar). As many mentioned in their reviews, you seem to gain an instant and long-lasting friend by booking Viator. He was quick with recommendations, helpful hints, and a charming personally that feels like an old friend on the first day. Couldn't recommend more, a true La Rioja/Basque ambassador!

We took two separate tours with Aitor and both were flat out fantastic! He has tremendous knowledge of the food, culture and history of the Basque region, and better still he infused it all with his bright energy to make us feel very much at home. Time was never an issue, as he was far more interested in making sure we were enjoying ourselves than the clock and added (rather than subtracted) points on the agenda as he learned our tastes and preferences. The half-day tour of Bilbao (packed with many unforgettable pintxos) was the perfect way to start our time in the village (not a city, we learned!). In addition to hitting all of the popular sights and attractions, Aitor took us to a number of lesser known places as we explored. Our full-day tour of the coast was also spectacular, as we bounced from town to town to see many historical sights and, as an unexpected bonus, geological features that were mind-blowing. If you're having trouble picking between options like these, make it easy and do both like we did! We hugely enjoyed sharing drinks, meals and experiences with him from Bilbao all across the Basque coast. 5 stars doesn't do his work justice--you're missing out majorly if you don't take a tour with Aitor!

AITOR is AMAZING!!! We had hired Aitor for two different tours: 1) a private tour driving a group of 8 people in the Rioja wine country 2) a food tour in San Sebastian for 4 people. Both tours were amazing and unforgettable. He did a fabulous job catering each tours to our interest and needs while adding history, culture and fun. We laughed so many times throughout both tours with his conversations. Book him and you won't regret it. Core memories will be made on your trip with his guided tours.

Okay so I am very late in posting this (we toured with Aitor in September 2022), but something reminded me about this tour today, and I realized that I had neglected to post even though Aitor was one of our all time favorite tour guides! My husband has family who descended from the Basque region of Spain, and Aitor took the time to do a customized tour for us. We saw the highlights of Bilbao (including the Guggenheim), including getting a mini foodie tour where Aitor bought us different food samples to try from the region (delicious). And then he took us out into the countryside to see the area my husband's ancestors lived as well as their ancestral home (one of the people living at the home even told us about relatives still living in the area). It was a fantastic, well-paced day, and we cannot recommend Aitor's services enough.

The perfect day in Rioja! We spent three days in Rioja and our day trip with Aitor was our favorite. We are not big drinkers, so asked Aitor to combine vineyard visits and wine tastings with site seeing. We really appreciated his flexibility in personalizing our day trip based on our interests. We were really impressed with Aitor's knowledge of vineyards and wine making as well as Spanish history and culture. In addition to visiting two wineries for wine tastings, we had a wonderful lunch (we were the only tourists in the restaurant!!), and saw several medieval towns, churches, castles and centuries old archeological sites. Aitor's English was PERFECT and we had no issues communicating. Aitor picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel in LaGuardia. We learned a lot about Rioja's history and culture, tasted delicious wine, enjoyed a yummy lunch and best of all--made a new friend! Do not hesitate to book your tour with our friend Aitor!

Aitor is the best guide ever. We scheduled 4 separate tours with him while in San Sebastian and Pamplona - a) trip to a Basque town in France and one in Spain; b) a trip to Olite Palace in Navarra; c) a walking tour of Pamplona during the Running of the Bulls Festival; and d) a hike in the Irati Forest and the surrounding area. And in all of these tours, lots of references were made to the Camino, the Basque culture, the Spanish culture, and history. We also visited other cities in Spain and had 8 guides in total for our 3 week trip to Spain, and Aitor was by far the most knowledgeable about the history of Spain and also the most flexible in terms of tweaking the itinerary due to the weather and our energy level. He also introduced us to what must be the best food in the area. Highly recommended.

We recently did our 3rd tour with Aitor! We have come to love the Basque region of Northern Spain through Aitor's informative, engaging, and fun tours. 7 (two in their 50’s, 5 in their 20’s) of us spent three wonderful days in Basque Country with Aitor. Hands down the best guide we have ever had. He was well liked by all. His love for his home is so apparent in the energy and knowledge he brings to his tours. We biked Bilboa, saw scenic vistas and San Sabastian, and did a wonderful Rioja wine tour. We samples many foods and wines over the course of our time together. Extra special was his assisting in picking up family members at airport and finding my family member’s which allowed me to meet a cousin and see the home of my great grandmothers birth. When I go back I will plan my trip around his availability. Truly one in a million.

Our group of 4 booked a private tour of the areas around Bilbao. He picked us up from our hotel and drove us out to the coast to see many highlights including where scenes from Game of Thrones was filmed. He customized the tour, per our request, for some walking and some driving. We chose to have pintxos instead of a full lunch so that we could have time to see more things. He was a wonderful guide. We recently went on a full day tour of La Rioja with Aitor. I can honestly say that he's the best tour guide we've ever had. He knows the area inside and out, and was able to tailor the tour so we could visit sites that were of particular interest to us. Not only did we get to visit wineries and enjoy wine tastings, but we also visited beautiful villages and ancient archaeological sites. In addition we enjoyed an excellent meal at the restaurant that he selected for our lunch break in La Guardia. And after our tour we received an email from him with a link to photos he took to help us remember our trip as well as recommendations for sites that we were able to visit on our own. My wife and I are experienced travelers. His winning personality makes the impossible, like getting a security guard to open a closed museum, so you can see ancient codex and religious artifacts without waiting around for hours or getting the world's best ice cream store to open early, just so you can have a taste of their title winning confection, seem routine rather than extraordinary. Did you know that all the playing cards used in Las Vegas are made in the Basque city of Victoria? Me neither, until Aitor took us to a little known playing cards museum, exhibiting cards from all over the world, some dating back to the 14th century. Aitor will not be the least expensive Basque guide you can find. After being named Best Basque Guide for several consecutive years before Covid-19 shut down tourism you wouldn't expect that. But this is definitely one of those classic, you get what you pay for situations. Basque Country is a hidden gem and experiencing its treasures with Aitor was one of our best ever tours. Or, as we kept finding ourselves saying over the six days we spent with Aitor, "I could live here."

We had the pleasure of having Aitor as our tour guide during our visit to Spains Basque Country! He is extremely knowledgeable, caring, and pleasing! We requested to eat at restaurants with typical Spanish basque foods, and in all honesty, Aitor did just that! We engaged Aitor in Bilbao for a tour of some Rioja wineries about an hour away. I very highly recommend him. He was like a new friend, very familiar with his home turf, showing us around. He described the history and culture of the area in a friendly and relatable way. The agenda was truly personal: we told him what we were interested in and he planned everything accordingly and remained flexible during the day. This was our first time in Bilbao and we were only there for a couple of days. It's a beautiful and interesting place, and we plan to return soon, and will certainly engage Aitor again.

Ten years ago, we had our first tour with Aitor and loved it. This year he did an even better job. My husband is half Basque but with no association or history with the Basque country. Aitor helped him find parts of his family's history and new and amazing locations. UPDATED: We just did a 3rd trip with Aitor. This time to the pyrenees. It was a wonderful day as always. This was our second visit in the Basque country and the second time we were guided by Aitor. Aitor is not simply a guide, but rather he is our local friend in the area. He always provides us with tips and suggestion of things to do even when he is not with us. This time we only had about half a day and wanted to see the French part of the Basque Country. Aitor took us to Biarritz and St. Jean de Luz. Aitor is very knowledgeable not only in the local attractions but also in the history of the regions, always adding colorful stories and anecdotes that make our trip ever so interesting. He also shared with us local Music :-) We are very interested in local food and customs and Aitor makes sure to take us to excellent places. We could not recommend him more highly!

I was lucky to find Aitor when my family was on a cruise calling at Bilbao and wanted to see as much of the city as possible. Aitor has a wealth of knowledge about the Basque Country and is enthusiastic about showing visitors his homeland. Most importantly, Aitor was patient and compassionate with my elderly father, who has mobility issues. He modified the tour so that we could drive to most sights and limit the amount of walking involved. He also assisted my Dad in and out of the vehicle and transported his rollator walker. Aitor was incredible. He guided us through the history and culture of the Basque people and the region with many stops along the way to savor the food and ambience, which included areas of France. It was so fun to talk about Hemingway and Picasso and then see the areas where those artists worked. During the trip, Aitor mentioned that the festival of San Fermín in Pamplona was happening soon (running of the bulls). We asked for his help to get there, and he drove us to Pamplona where we witnessed the first day of the festival in the heart of the old town. Aitor gave us the experience of a lifetime.

Touring with Aitor was an awesome experience. In all honestly, we were out late the previous night enjoying some vino and local food. We asked him to push back our pick up time and he did that no problem. He guided us to a local beach where we hung out on our way from Bilbao to San Sebastian. Had the most epic one day tour around Laguardia and the surrounding area. Aitor crafted the itinerary for us based on a few emails and it was the perfect mix of wine, culture and food. Aitor is charming, interesting, respectful, knowledgeable and it is all interspersed with his great sense of humour. A real highlight on what was an amazing trip.

Eskerrik asko, Aitor, for a marvelous adventure! Seeing the varieties of Biscay flysch at low tide, the lovely tree-lined road to the unexpected castle Butron, and the viewpoints at Gaztelugatze, before our wonderful geology boat tour at Geoparkea was a delight! You had great intuition about the most scenic and informative viewpoints to see the stories told by the unique rocks on this gorgeous Costa Vasca. Aitor can wow guests like us with geological knowledge and/or help them recreate scenes from Game of Thrones. He also knows where to find delicious pinxtos AND has a connection to THE best gelato artist in the world! The thrills did not stop there. Aitor was indeed correct that the tide was PERFECT at Monte Igueldo at that moment to experience the famous time sculptures. Aitor entertained us all day with interesting culture, science, and history information in such a fun way! He also cared so well for my 84 year old mother, being sensitive to uneven ground and stairs. She really appreciated him skipping the funicular ride at Monte Igueldo to meet us with the car at the top. Aitor was a wonderful guide who managed to show me fantastic places to see around Bilbao and San Sebastián despite poor rainy weather. Took a lot of time to explain each of the sites we were visiting and found some great places to eat during lunch. Very considerate in holding an umbrella so that I wouldn’t even get wet when getting around different locations. Very safe driver as well considering all the poor weather we drove through. We had Aitor as our guide for two days in Vitoria-Gasteiz and he was amazing. He was knowledgeable about the city and its history and about the sites to visit. At the same time, he was flexible and accommodating, adjusting his tour on the fly to suit our interests and curiosity. The tour of the Cathedral of Santa Maria that he arranged was the best Cathedral visit we've ever had: from below the foundations all the way to the top of the tower.

Aitor could write the book on hospitality. He has a wonderful gracious attitude and senses clients' interests to suggest places to see or things to do. Even after our day with him, he gave me ideas on ways to enhance the rest of my trip. His email communications are responsive and thorough, but to appreciate his enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge just make the booking and rest assured you are in good hands. Some other activity "tours" on Trip Advisor have nice ratings but in my experience some just use mediocre part-time staff to do the job. Aitor is a professional. I will definitely return to the Basque region and seek him out again.

We had an incredibly wonderful experience touring with Aitor Delgado Private Tour Guide. Aitor has a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of the Basque Country history, geography, culture, sport, food, and wine. We toured for 5 days with Aitor and covered the most scenic landscapes and coastline imaginable. We toured the French and Spanish Basque Country, the Pyrenees mountains, Rioja wine region, and coastal regions. We savored the many gastronomic delights and amazing wines of the region. We traveled to many off-the-beaten-path places including a prehistoric cave, ruins, coastal rock formations, and so many incredible scenic locations. Along the way, Aitor shared personal anecdotes, pertinent historical background, and a myriad of cultural experiences. He is professional, responsive, personable, and delightfully engaging. Aitor went the “extra mile” by providing many other concierge services for us such as recommending restaurants, hotels, and activities for our days off. Aitor es un encanto y un gran guía, contamos con él en nuestra visita a Vitoria y de su mano descubrimos rincones que seguro no hubiéramos descubierto solos, al ser nuestro guía privado la conexión con él fue inmediata y el trato personal un recuerdo inolvidable que nos llevaremos de esos días. Un gran acierto contratarlo, hizo de nuestra visita a Vitoria una experiencia maravillosa.

Ya había estado en Bilbao de paso un par de veces, pero sin duda, haberla recorrido con Aitor ha cambiado completamente mi percepción de la ciudad. A pesar de estar en tiempos de COVID, Aitor supo llevarnos a mi y a mi chico a los bares donde probamos los mejores pintxos de la ciudad. Fuimos a un bar en la plaza mayor que estaba cerrando, y al llegar con Aitor el dueño nos sirvió los pintxos que pedimos encantado!. Se nota que más que un trabajo sin duda es su pasión, lo disfruta y me voy enamorado de Bilbao después de verla a través de sus ojos. 100% recomendable!

Das Wissen über die Geschichte überbringt er in einer Form, so dass man Lust nach mehr bekommt. Die App, die er benutzt hat um das Gesagte in bildlicher Form zu unterstreichen, hat das Ganze noch abgerundet. Er war super vorbereitet und auf spontane Fragen immer eine Antwort gehabt. Eine kleine Tapas Tour hatte er auch eingebaut und es war traumhaft lecker. Er unterstützt wo er nur kann, sein Ziel war es unseren Trip so gut wie nur möglich zu gestalten. Stop your search for a tour guide right now! I sincerely can’t imagine how anyone could come close to Aitor. We recently returned from an incredible trip to Spain (Barcelona – Logroño – San Sebastian) and booked three full-day tours with him. We spent two days visiting towns throughout Rioja, sampling fantastic wine, experiencing amazing architecture and soaking up the history of the region. Our third tour we spent hopping between the French Basque towns of Bayonne, Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz as well as Hondarribia, a lovely town on the border of France and Spain. Our entire experience with Aitor was top class. He provides excellent communication starting with a brief survey of what you may be interested in doing. From there he collaborates with you to design the ideal tour, providing options for review. Some tour guides would go through the motions and you’d have a nice time but Aitor takes it so much further. I felt like he optimized our tour in real time, depending on what we preferred to do at a particular time. We were never rushed and had input along the way which made for such a great time together. We were flexible to go to additional wineries or have lunch at a selection of places, for example. He even sent ideas for things to see on days we were not with him and drove out of the way multiple times so we could experience something. That is going above and beyond. Perhaps the greatest value Aitor provides though is that he seems to know everyone (and they all love him!). We got into places that we never could have planned ourselves. That is what separates a good vacation from one you will never forget. At the end of our trip we asked each other our favorite part and the unanimous response was – Aitor! He is truly our new friend in Spain and we look forward to seeing him again soon.

Aitor is THE guide to have in Basque Country. In two trips to Bilbao, we have done 8 tours with him. He is the best. He sends a message the evening before a tour alerting you to the expected weather. He sends a link to photos of the tour when it is over. He is not a slave to the itinerary or to time. He knows the history and culture of Basque Country. He will surprise you and delight you.

No review could describe this gem of a gentleman. Three female friends travel to foreign Rioja and Basque Country for the first time for fun. He showed us beyond what Rick Steve’s recommendations could provide in local pearls of locations, tastings, and views. He also has the most infectious laugh and is a wonderful driver with a lovely spacious clean van. He would transport us and accompany us to neighboring cities. Our agent in the US did a great job but Aitor added elements of local flavor and details in a energetic, funny, adventurous way. He can adapt based on your likings on a whim! I wanted to surprise my husband with a wine tour in Rioja and wrote Aitor a very general mail with my inquiry. Aitor answered my request immediately and asked specific questions in order to better understand the interests of my husband and the way I wanted to surprise him. I could tell that Aitor really wanted to organize the perfect surprise for my husband. He came back to me in no time with different individualised options for the tour. I can't say enough about the tour that Aitor planned for us when we went to the Basque country. He told us history of places, explained the culture of the Basque people, and showed us sights we never would have seen if we had not been in his care. Aitor made an extreme effort and went out of his way to find things that we wanted to see related to agriculture in the area, such as a sheep farm (where we visited with the owners and were able to get a sense of the sheep industry there) , a pig farm, and an anchovy cannery. We highly recommend Aitor and will call him the next time we travel to Spain.

We booked a 6 hour tour to San Sebastian with Aitor on short notice and so glad that he was available. He took the time to alter the tour to meet our needs, my husband was having an issue with walking long distances due to a recent injury. Dropped us off at various locations and would then go park the car, very thoughtful. A very knowledgeable guide who shared with us the history of San Sebastian and Bilbao; as that was our starting point. Comfortable clean car with complimentary water. He took pictures throughout the day and shared then later with us, which was great. Aitor not only shares his knowledge with you, he listens to what you have to say. For example, my husband mentioned that he loves dark chocolate and on our way back to Bilbao, Aitor stopped at a small village where a famous chocolate shop is located, so we could visit and of course buy some chocolate. He took us to various bars and cafes, frequented mainly by locals, so we could experience the local food scene. Our visit of San Sebastian was made special with Aitor as our guide. His english was excellent and he was a delight. Would highly recommend.

I am beyond grateful that I found Aitor to be my tour guide. There is so much to see and experience in the Basque Region, and I am delighted by how much we were able to do. In one day, our adventures took us through stunning coastal towns, charming villages, and breathtaking countrysides - all with incredible vistas, hidden hiking trails, and ornate, historic structures. I wanted something off the beaten path, and Aitor is so knowledgeable about the area and organized with his planning that he tailored a trip that met and exceeded my expectations. Aitor is an exceptional tour guide with an impressive range of knowledge. He also is well-known by the local business owners and took me to the best places to dine and experience the incredible food and wine! Whether you like art at the Guggenheim, geologic history, architecture, culture, or beautiful scenery, he knows everything there is to see - and there is so much to see here! We had a lot of fun and he makes you feel right at home. I would highly recommend him to anyone, and I look forward to returning for my next tour with Aitor.

Aitor, now our friend, was an awesome tour guide. We had an amazing all day trip to Basque Country. There was a big agenda, but Aitor had it planned out and we didn’t miss a beat. The sights were gorgeous from Biarritz to San Sebastián and towns and villages in between. Aitor informed us of much of the area history, and we also were able to let loose and laugh. We would recommend his services to anyone. We will be back to Bilbao and to see Aitor.

We booked a day tour with Aitor Delgado, and it was the best decision we made. This was our first trip to Spain. We came to Bilbao on business, and stayed for a remaining week to explore Bilbao. We wanted to also visit San Sebastián, and after reading reviews, decided the best way to do so was via a tour with Aitor. We quickly learned why he gets such wonderful reviews. It is because he is a fabulous guide—very easy to be with, very knowledgeable, very kind and fun! We are a young couple in our early 60’s, and love to walk, eat, and enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of new places. We could not have enjoyed so thoroughly these things without Aitor. We went on a gorgeous drive on minor roadways to a couple of small coastal villages on our way to San Sebastián. We walked on a beach in Zumaia and admired the very beautiful geological rock formations. We visited the fishing town of Getaria with an amazing cathedral built over a street, and the Museum of Cristobal Balenciaga. And then, we followed the ocean as we drove on to San Sebastián. We had a delightful, delicious tour of a number of pintxos bars in this beautiful old city. We ended our food tour with cheesecake—divine! We went up, up, up to see a gorgeous view of the bay and the city of San Sebastián, and also the amazing outdoor sculptures, The Comb of the Wind, by Eduardo Chillida, arranged as an architectural work by Basque architect, Luis Pena Ganchegui. Then, on the drive back to Bilbao, we stopped in Mendaro to visit the centuries old chocolate shop of the Saint-Gerons family. Madame Saint-Gerons showed us the makings of chocolate for drinking chocolate. This was a heavenly last stop on a fabulous tour. Aitor tailors the tour to you, and if you do not have specific ideas in mind, he will design a perfect day, as he did for us. And, the best part, you will have made a new, dear friend. I am beyond thankful that I found and booked Aitor for a private day around Basque Country. He is knowledgeable, helpful, and fun. It did not take long for us to feel like he was our friend...and there are selfies to prove that! We enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day, mostly focused on French Basque, but I can't forgot the hidden gem of Hondarribia that he took us too, which is on the border but technically Spain. We spent a couple of days exploring Vitoria-Gasteiz and Burgos. Aitor’s relaxed nature made the time with him so easy. His expertise is only exceeded by his enthusiasm for the beautiful Basque Country. It’s rare that you get a guide that makes you feel they are seeing the sites for the only the second time, with you—exploring, while providing deep insights to what your visiting. We explored culture (food), history (cathedrals), and nature (parks, countryside). It felt as if we were following our curiosity. Highly recommend Aitor Delgado as a private tour guide if you want to really experience the Basque Country in your own way. 💯

Basque Birthday Adventure with Aitor - best ever!! My maternal grandfather's family immigrated to America from the Basque Country years ago - so many, in fact, that not much was known except for the surname (Inda). I had always dreamed of visiting the Basque Country since I was a young girl but was unsure how to make this dream come true. Luckily, I was able to find Aitor Delgado, who helped me finally live out my dream as a special birthday present to myself. I can truly say that I now feel like I have a friend in the family in my homeland and that I finally fee connected to my ancestors! Aitor took great care to research my family name before my visit and to tailor our journey to places connected to my name - like Inda Mountain! Very exciting! He asked questions about what I would want to see most and since I wanted the real cultural experience, he found the ideal place for me to stay - Casa Rural Jesuskoa, which represents to me everything a traditional Basque Inn to be. It is even owned and operated by a Basque family that has once lived in the US before moving back home. We travelled around the region through Zumaia, Getaria and over to the coast right across from the French side of the Basque Country. Everywhere we went, Aitor took great care to ensure that I was seeing everything I wanted to and learning as much about the local culture as possible. At one point, when I was feeling a little run down from international travel, he found an after hours pharmacy and made sure that I found what I needed to feel right as rain to continue on! I cannot think of a better gift to have received for my birthday and I know that the reason this journey was so perfect was because of Aitor. He is so warm and friendly - everyone we met along the way was happy to see him again, as he enjoys a great relationship with the local business owners. He is an amazing asset when you are touring the Basque Country as he will truly be your friend. I am already planning a return visit later this year with the rest of my family!

Our group of six had a great half day tour with Aitor starting in Bilbao and going to San Sebastian. Along the way he included stops in Zumaia (where they were going to be filming Game of Thrones) and Getaria as well as an impromptu visit to a small chocolate making shop that he added after talking with us. Aitor was very informative and attentive to our preferences.
