Divemaster Internship Tenerife

I did a 6-Week Divemaster Course and it was an amazing experience! Csaba and Levi are outstanding divers and truly care about you and your progress throughout the program. I was able to learn a lot during my six weeks not only in the water but also about the industry in general. I can recommend this center to anyone looking to do a Divemaster or just some fun dives. Their house bay offers great diving conditions and you can encounter a lot of interesting marine life there. If I were to do the Course again I'd definitely choose them again :)

I felt very safe and well taken care of throughout the whole experience. The team was professional, well-organized, and clearly knew what they were doing. Everything was explained clearly, and safety was always a top priority. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable and professional dive center.

I recently completed my open water certification with Tenerife Diving Academy in March, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The professional approach combined with personalized care made me feel both safe and excited throughout the entire training. The location, Abades, is a protected area with rich marine life, vibrant reefs, and the amazing opportunity to see turtles on almost every dive. This made the diving experience even more memorable. I would like to share my experience with Tenerife Diving Academy to help others make an informed decision about enrolling in their Divemaster course. While some may have had different experiences, I personally encountered several issues that I believe are important to highlight. ❌ Misleading Training Program The dive center promotes a comprehensive training program, but my experience did not reflect this. • Over four weeks, most of our dives were limited to a single shallow 10m dive site, with only two days at a different location. • There were no boat dives, only shore dives, which was unexpected for a professional certification course. • I felt this approach lacked variety and didn’t provide sufficient real-world diving experience. ❌ Unclear Evaluation Process I enrolled in the Divemaster course from January 7 to January 31, paying €499 for training. However, at the end of the course, I was informed that I did not meet the requirements in several areas, including Diving Guide, Briefing, Open Water Skills, and Water Fitness Skills. What concerned me most was the lack of clear communication regarding evaluations and training progress: • I received minimal feedback throughout the course and had only one proper training session over the month. • When I requested written records of my training and evaluations, I was told they were unavailable. From my understanding, students should be able to sign and review their training records, but this was not provided in my case. ❌ Refund Request Denied Given the lack of comprehensive training and documentation, I requested a refund for the course. Unfortunately, the dive center declined my request, which I found disappointing. ❌ Students Expected to Handle Dive Shop Tasks During my time at the academy, I noticed that students were often expected to assist with tasks typically handled by staff, such as: • Cleaning the floors • Carrying heavy scuba tanks • Refilling water tanks for equipment cleaning While contributing to the daily operations can be part of dive training, I felt that the expectations here went beyond standard student responsibilities. It was implied that participation in these tasks was necessary for successful course completion, which made me uncomfortable. ⚠ Final Thoughts Based on my experience, I would recommend that potential students thoroughly research and clarify the training structure and expectations before enrolling. While some may find this dive center suitable, I personally did not receive the level of training or support I expected from a professional diving course. If you are considering an SSI Divemaster certification, I suggest exploring other dive centers to ensure you find one that meets your expectations for training quality and professionalism. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision.

Expérience mitigée lors de ma formation de plongée** Il convient de préciser que "Divemaster Internship Teneriffe" et "Teneriffe dive academy" sont dans la même infrastructure et avec le même management. **1/ Logement** Le logement nécessiterait un entretien plus régulier. J'ai dû procéder à un nettoyage approfondi à mon arrivée. Certains équipements (lave-linge, douche) étaient en mauvais état. La gestion des espaces communs (cuisine, frigo avec produits périmés) et la cohabitation entre résidents pourraient être mieux organisées par l'établissement. **2/ Centre de plongée** L'accès à la mer (350 m) implique une marche exigeante en combinaison, avec un dénivelé accidenté. Les sols mouillés du centre présentent un risque de glissade. Les conditions de mise à l'eau (rochers, courant) demandent une vigilance accrue, ce qui peut être éprouvant sur plusieurs plongées quotidiennes. A noter qu'il n'y a pas de sortie bateau tout se fait depuis le rivage ce qui est étonnant pour acquerir de l'expérience. **3/ Formation SSI** Bien que le centre soit répertorié PADI, la formation proposée était SSI sans clarification préalable. Le rythme des exercices (principalement en eau peu profonde) et l'organisation des tests m'ont semblé déséquilibrés sur 3 semaines. La communication avec certains moniteurs en milieu naturel (bruit des vagues, consignes orales) s'est avérée difficile à plusieurs reprises. **En résumé** En tant que plongeur expérimenté, j'ai été surpris par l'écart entre mes attentes (basées sur 25 ans de pratique internationale) et cette expérience. Les spots locaux offrent peu de diversité marine comparés à d'autres destinations. La combinaison de défis logistiques et pédagogiques a rendu cette formation décevante.

I tried scuba diving as a beginner once and couldn't submerge at all as I would freak out. I couldn't manage to breathe through the reg. I came here and decided to try once again with Csaba as the instructor. I managed to actually submerge and breathe and even saw fish and corals. Csaba was super patient and supportive so it ended up being a good progress for me. Thank you!

It’s been long overdue, but I hope that this review reaches other people. I didn’t want this to get in the way of the lawsuit that was going on. The owner is extremely unfriendly and untrustworthy. He yells at his interns for no reason. What was the lawsuit about? We found a hidden camera in the housing that was provided. Reported this to the owner that it was unacceptable, but he didn’t listen. We all felt uncomfortable and left the dive school. Even our instructor quit on the spot when we told him. Please, if you ever have had a bad experience with him, that is legally not ok, report it to the ECC (european consumer centre) of your EU country. They can help with free legal advise and may help you in putting pressure on the company for money back etc.

Kann man da den Divemaster machen? Ja Sollte man ihn da machen? Eher nicht. Die ganze Schule ist super ineffizient sodass man ständig in Hektik ist. Die Trainingstachgänge sind zwischen 20-40 Minuten. Maximal 40 wegen der Sicherheit, das man da meistens mit 120bar oder mehr aus dem Wasser geht ist egal. Ständig wird wegen der Sicherheit gejammert, dass man den ganzen Tag auf einem nassen Fliesenboden läuft der super rutschig ist, ist auch egal. Der Boss geht nach dem halben Tag seine Mitarbeiterin die alleine ist darf aber nichts entscheiden. Nein ist das am häufigsten benutzte Wort in der Basis. Insgesamt sind die Leute dort super arrogant. Zusätzlich ist die Schule was den Plan angeht völlig unflexibel, völlig egal wie das Wetter ist der Plan für den Tag wird umgesetzt. Außerdem gibt es auch keinen Pool in dem man Übungen machen könnte wenn das Wetter mal schlecht ist. Padi wird ständig schlecht gemacht obwohl die Schule lange Zeit mit padi zusammen gearbeitet hat. Und der Betreiber schuld ist das es diese nicht mehr gibt. Details dazu hat jemand auf auf Trip advisor veröffentlicht. Der Spaß und die Lockerheit fehlt hier komplett. Diese Leute nehmen den kompletten Spaß aus dem Tauchen. Ich bin froh das es vorbei ist. Empfehlen kann ich es nicht. Sucht euch lieber eine gute Tauchschule

Super Taucherfahrung gemacht. Hatte 2 Tauchgänge gebucht und die waren auch echt klasse. Jedem der in Teneriffa mal tauchen gehen möchte, kann ich diese Tauchschule empfehlen. Preis war auch mehr als gut. 99€ für 2 Tauchgänge inkl. Versicherung, Ausrüstung und Luft.

I have dived with the Ténérife Diving Academy center and it was a fantastic experience. Pete (the owner of the center) and his team are very professional and kind. They have done their most to answer my requests and enable me to experiment wonderful dives in this little Paradise of Arico on the South East. I recommend the center for recreational dives and also for training and certifications based on their human and professional SSI approach. Special thanks to Patricia, my passionate instructor. I look forward to passing my next certifications with you and ressourcing moments. The Center offers also very good quality vs price ratio.

Wasted so much money and time in there. From outside the dive center looks pretty good. It doesn't look so good when you're there for a longer period of time. I've tried to become an instructor. As the owner saw me struggling he offered me a deal, which I was very greatful for as it was an amazing oportunity. I was supposed to come back in few months and work for them as an assistant for 3 weeks, get some pocket money and then do my ITC again. The whole month (as it turned out) I was working for them, the owner, Pete did not have a single conversation with me. Told me nothing about functioning of the dive center, rules or my duties. He expected me to guess what I was supposed to do. Every single thing he didn't like, he would tell the only open water instructor that is working there to tell me. Never face to face. When I asked for a feedback from him, he started yelling and lying to me about the things I've done. Few days after this disturbing conversation he said that the ITC is not gonna happen as there is not enough people. He told me to leave in 2 days. I left the next evening as it was the only available flight that I could take. I wanted to get my money for deposit and job. He said he cannot check me out the day I left so he's going to send me money later when he's checked the house on Friday. I agreed. Next week got an email from him that the house is in unacceptable condition (I left the house as clean as it was the day I arrived). I was not living there by myself so the next day bin was full and kitchen was not that clean. I couldnt do anything about that. He sent me photos of the house and outside then asked for an invoice (I dont have a company). I sent him a private person invoice and he said it's a receipt. He said that the cleaning company charges 575e... For cleaning the dust under the sofa? I shall also add that he is taking from every customer staying at their house, 1e per week to get all house supplies we need (toilet paper, soap etc.). I was asking them for toilet paper for 2 weeks. After this time he finally decided to tell me that as Im working for them and staying at the house I will be buying all neccesary stuff for the house, bring him the receipt and he will give me back the money. After I left it was the guys job to provide those stuff. We all basically lost 6/8e. Not much but he will find every opportunity to get just 1 cent more. He owns me 630e which I will not receive :). Atmosphere was trash, he told me not to be friends with the guys I was staying in the house with as those are not vacations and I should be their role model... What? In his eyes I was supposed to tell them what to do; even in the house. I was working hard and corrected myself after each conversation with the open water instructor that Pete could not manage to have with me. Still wasn't enough. Last days he started ignoring me and acting like he cannot see or hear me. They will also teach you how to carry one tank and when you carry it as they taught you; yell at you as it is not how you're supposed to be doing it. I still gained some experience and now I'm confident with finishing my ITC somewhere else. However, the experience with this dive center and people running it, is something I do not want to experience again. To everyone who's considering going there, please think twice.

Primera vez que realizo alguna actividad de este tipo, por lo que no sabía que esperar y estaba dispuesto realmente a todo, y es aún así que cualquier expectativa que pude haber tenido en algun momento fue superada con demasía. Me impresionó el nivel de organización con el que cuenta la academia, todo pensado para y dirigido hacia los estudiantes que se encuentran en ella, de manera que se pueda aprovechar cada dia al máximo, y que se puedan cumplir las metas que a cada uno hicieron elegir esta academia de manera rápida y completamente efectiva. Sinceramente puedo decir que me llevo una experiencia tremenda, tanto a nivel personal como a nivel de buceador, ya que el ambiente, a la par con ser muy profesional y muy completo en cuanto al buceo, es muy agradable y amistoso.

Really enjoyed my time here. Spent 5 weeks training from Advanced Diver to Divemaster and then spent another month gaining work experience as a Divemaster. The staff are all super friendly and helpful and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to take their diving to the next level.

One of the most negative experiences I ever had with a business, I would never recommend them. The owner and his wife have serious behavioural issues and they are taking out their inferiority complex to young persons that are passioned about becoming scuba diving professionals. Don't rely on google reviews since the owner manipulates his score by creating fake positive ones, taking down the negative ones and every once in a while even changing their google maps page. Try to contact people that have actually completed a PADI course there and they will be eager to share their negative experiences.

would recommend to anybody to go here. The instructor was amazing Ross, responsible and took very good care of us under the water. It was a fantastic experience. Super super clean dive center, around 300 meters from the beach giving you the possibility to go directly into the water. Very friendly people and cant wait to be back.

The dive site literally outside the dive centre is VERY popular with divers. We choose the dive centre based on the great reviews and were not disappointed. More than 10 years in business in Tenerife and they should be proud of what they do. When we were there they had 10 people being trained to be diving professional , divemaster and instructors, very very competent and friendly team.

As more experienced divers we prefer to do things our way. It was no problem as we were given our own divemaster for the day. The staff and guides go so far beyond what you normally receive, thank you and see you back in Tenerife soon.

The most amazing dive centre in Tenerife.

We had a beginners dive. This was my partners and me first time ever scuba diving. A bit bumpy to start with, could quite get the buoyancy but with a bit of help, well of alot of help, we got there in the end. Thanks to dive master or perhaps instructor sorry but sure which, Jorge for excellent teaching and patience.

Fabulous day diving and even saw the local turtles. Our Divemaster was very patient and understanding. Seeing what Tenerife has to offer up close was an experience we will never forget, thank you

I had a great dive at the Abades beach, guided by Ross. Ross was super attentive, gave a perfect site briefing and was super fun to dive with. The facilities are top notch, all there what's needed, and plenty of free parking :). The dive itself was really relaxed, just how I like it. We saw loads of fish and to my suprise a small turtle as well. Would definetly recommend!

It was our first time in deep blue...... well 7 metres anyway!... Since we have been spending a couple of days in Tenerife, and the weather was amazing we thought why not try diving, and it was an amazing experience! We had such a great time, with no stress and fear, since this was our first time diving. We were at 7 meters deep for what seemed like ages. I could stay forever! Next time, it would be great to dive even deeper, and I'm sure we will. We wish you all a great time!

Very popular dive site with many many divers. We choose the dive centre based just a couple of hundred metres away from the beach. A great decision as the cleanest dive centre you are ever likely to see and everything virtually new, even though they have been going for 10 years in Tenerife. Will do our best to be back one day.

Every part of our scuba diving was amazing, thank you all so much. Very approachable and friendly Staff, they explained where everything was and what to do. Always on hand to give tips of a better way to do things, i was a bit rusty.

So much fun for our first time scuba diving and it was the highlight of my trip I had so much fun ! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. We got to go on two dives, saw turtles on the first one and swam with a sting ray on the second one !! Response to owners response: - I requested a refund as you do not have the required license by the Canarian government to even operate as a dive centre. - You keep mentioning that I was unable to complete the snorkel - I didnt do it one day because of an injury but had planned to do it another day but quit the course before that. It has nothing to do with any of this or my review so what is your point? Are you trying to say I cant swim or what? - 3 people in total left the IDC before the IE - one other because he seemed to agree with my review and one who despite you passing him as a divemaster -did not understand the theory! - You could have a large water dispenser (we have those in Dubai too where we also dont drink tap water! wow technology! - What baffles you about the discount - I paid the price on the tag - so where is the discount?? - As PADI has confirmed - there is only one version of the divemaster pack! - Disagreements with whom? You have no staff - its you and your wife and Oli and an unpaid recently qualified instructor!!! I took no offence to any discussion with anyone so stop lying to try to discredit me. I hardly even stayed two weeks and didnt even start the IDC. - You have clearly paid for all of the good reviews as nearly all are fake! Original review: I joined the Pre IDC program and I quit before the IDC started, forfeiting my money as it was preferably than staying there. • There was a young student who has joined to do his Advanced Course, Rescue and Divemaster. He was there for a total 5 weeks. As an open water student, he had only 6 logged dives - to save time they sent him on 1 hour dives or for forty minutes and logging them as 2 or 3 separate twenty minute dives and justifying this by saying - Padi defines a dive as twenty minutes long! Yes that it correct, however I do not think, and please correct me if i am wrong, that Padi will count an hours dive as three dives? • He completed 3 adventure dives in 1 dive as part of the advanced course, including the deep dive. They went to 19.4m! I asked the instructor why they didn't go to thirty meters and her response was that Padi defines a deep dive as a dive below 18 meters. While this is correct - he is now allowed to go to thirty meters and yet has never experienced it. He doesn't know the deco time will be affected or if he experiences narcosis. They are basically just doing the minimum to tick the boxes. • The DM trainees receive the DM packs without the instructor manual, without the decal and without the eRDP. They sell them the eRDP for 28 Euro and the instructor manual for 54 Euro! So unethical to sell them items that have already been paid for! • The result of this kind of training is going to result in inexperienced qualified professionals who will not have enough experience to deal with problems, and will pass on bad habits and attitudes to others. Diving is supposed to be fun but they are sucking the fun out of it. • They are taking advantage of young people and trying to get as much money from them as possible. They do not even provide a hanger to hang up a BCD after a dive and expect you to buy a hanger from them at the great price of 25 Euro!! They do not provide any drinking water facilities, however sell bottles of water at inflated prices! Surely they should be ambassadors of the environment and discourage use of plastic bottles and also at least provide free drinking water! • On their brochure for the IDC, they promised us 15% discount on Scuba Pro products when we join. After joining, I bought some products from Scuba Pro from their shop. When I enquired about the discount, I was told that the discount was already included in the price. I asked how and they said that it just is. I asked them- if someone walked in from the street to buy the same things, would you increased the price by 15%? However they had no answer for me. • On the same purchase, I asked to pay by card, however they claimed that if I paid by card that I would have to pay 11% extra and that I should pay in cash! Hmm - no bank charges that!!!

Amazing dives at an amazing dive centre. A real hidden gem between Las Americas and Candalaria. Free collection and drop of so why not, is what I thought. A bustling real Spanish town with many places to eat afterwards. A thoroughly enjoyable day out.

I was again a beautiful experience to dive with the boys and girls in tenerife. They did everything to make you feel comfortable and happy. It is really diving with the very best, thanks all again.

If you want to be a happy diver this is the place. Another very good series of dives. Also completed the Deep Diver speciality. Excellent sightings of turtles and rays. Ask them nicely and you even get to go on the new boat. Well done, keep up the good work.

Our experience was excellent. There were four adults, one of whom had not been diving before and wanted to have a “Try Dive” experience, and I who had had a previous dive experience that had caused me a lot of anxiety about going diving again. I felt understood and was given all of the time I needed to regain my comfort under the water. I had only scheduled one dive for our time on Tenerife, but the first dive experience was so good, that I chose to do a second dive a few days later. The dive sites were very suitable for the beginners. We were able to see many species of marine life. I highly recommend them for their professionalism and genuine care and support for a great diving experience

Great place to learn scubadiving

I successfully completed my diving certification here and was impressed with everything. The Dive Master was extremely competent and professional. Every crew member on the ship was very friendly and helpful. I cannot imagine a better place to learn, have fun diving and to meet lovely people.
