The way this trip was presented, organized, and led, well exceeded my expectations. I could not have enjoyed it more! The care the Ultreia y Suseia guides took of our group went above and beyond just a regular business or travel agency. I think we all consider them friends now! I appreciated well thought out each part of the journey was, and that different pilgrims were given information and opportunity to discern which parts of the walk were right for them, to avoid overexertion. The route we took was so beautiful, and the sites were the perfect mix of spiritual significance and human enjoyment of nature and the great outdoors. The “Camino de Santiago” with “Ultreia y Suseia” was the experience of a life time. We started with the detailed guidance and support from Marta and Julio to continue under the leadership and expertise of Yoli and Rui. Beautiful sights, delicious food, stunning hotels, wonderful fellowship, and meaningful tours. Our guide, Vítor, so dedicated and attentive to our needs, was another way they elevated the experience for the pilgrims. I would love to explore other routes, but with Ultreia y Suseia leading the pilgrimage. Their expertise, professionalism and kindness made this experience unique. We all have different reasons to undertake this pilgrimage. We know the “why” and they master the “how.”

Our experience on the Camino was awesome. Had the pleasure of being accompanied by Rui, Yoli & Carlos on our 12 day Camino journey. Together, they made the whole trip feel like visiting family. I agree with all the amazing reviews! The Camino is a powerful, spiritual journey made even more uplifting by Rui. A kindhearted gentleman with superb attention to details: from the bus following along and the sweetest bus driver ever, John Paul, offering sustenance in the way of fresh cherries, oranges, bananas, water, of course, and cookies! Offering a helping hand or a ride if needed! The hotels were all highly rated, clean and comfortable! A bountiful breakfast every day at 7:30 then onto the bus by 8:15 to ride to our next starting point. Rui knew what we needed before we did! He knew great places to grab lunch and experience the local specialties. Rui customized our walk for our private group! We walked along the coast in Portugal and in mountains, small villages, old growth forest, white wine vineyards, and cities in Spain. He made us feel as if we were the most fun and photogenic group he's ever had. Haha! He's got a great sense of humor and a humble heart. Oh, he even secured for us front row seats at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela for the Botafumeiro ceremony! His beautiful wife, Yoli, composed a video of memories put to music from our Camino. It is outstanding. Did I mention his photography was artful indeed. We were the most photogenic!! LOL! An unforgettable experience I will cherish forever!

For many of us, doing El Camino de Santiago is the ultimate experience, spiritually, physically and intellectually. While many of us may have specific reasons for doing it, the details and the logistics can be daunting. There is a point in our lives that time is a valuable commodity and that is where Ultreia y Suseia took care of the logistics and details, this allowed me to really have a unique experience in doing El Camino de Santiago, there will be places that you have not heard of, see things many other pilgrims may miss, whether they don't know it exist or because they have no time. I will be doing this Camino again and I will be using Ultreia y Suseia, as they provided me with an ultimate experience that is unforgettable.

It has been over a week since the end of our pilgrimage and I’m still struggling to find the words to describe our journey through Ultreia y Suseia. This company is deeply committed to ensuring that each pilgrim has the opportunity to fully discover meaning on the Camino de Santiago. Wow, how can I put into words how amazing this pilgrimage was. Our guide Carlos was so caring, professional, attentive, and fun. He took time to get to know each of us and our unique needs as we walked the Camino to ensure we participated to the best of our ability and allowed each of us to have a meaningful, wonderful experience. We also had some time and attention from Yoli and Rui, the owners of the company at various stops along the way. They also wanted to ensure we each had a great experience. The routes were beautiful and allowed us to see and walk various terrain in remote areas as well as lovely villages and cities. The accommodations and our bus travel, with our friendly and fun driver, Luis, were first class. I would highly recommend using them to book your camino, you won't regret it.

This company allowed me to partake in heaven! Every single moment a delight. Meet daily for Catholic Mass, Breakfast with amazing food, gorgeous scenery from rustic farmland to majestic rocky ocean cliffs to the Picos de Europa ( my favorite ). These lovely people, Yoli, Rui and Carlos really care about the pilgrim having a wonderful experience. They've carefully selected incredible and beautiful accommodations, incredible sections of the Camino ( I did the Reconquista ) and made this a TRIP OF A LIFETIME. I strongly suggest that you get a car to pick you up at the airport, makes the train to the destination train station so much easier and don't forget travel insurance. I did Allianz! So, these people have a gorgeous Mercedes van that FOLLOWS you and keeps all your luggage so that you can have a wonderful Camino and enjoy it! Lunches are usually al fresco and nothing is rushed. If you want a trip of a lifetime and the incredible experience of making it to Santiago de Compostella, there is no other way to do it except with Rui and Yoli and Carlos! Buen CAMINO!

To go on the Camino is to step into the soul of a country and into the depths of yourself. You will walk farther than you think you can, up dusty yellow mountains, down wet, rock-strewn valleys, along pounding ocean waves , and through timeless, green forests and centuries-old village streets. Rui & Yoli did EVERYTHING to make my Camino (3rd one with them) memorable. With Ultreia & Suseia, it is the only way I would do or recommend doing a Camino to anyone of any age.

We stayed in 2 really great places, one built in the 1500's and the other 1700's. The staff at both locations were wonderful and the food was exceptional.

I can't recommend Ultreia y Suseia enough. From initial booking to final day of Camino & beyond, I felt so much support. Lifetime experience. Rui & Yoli's hearts are so big. Top notch accommodations and attention to detail. Carlos is 5+ stars as the guide for the Portuguese Coastal trip I did this May. He was there for every pilgrim on the trip with a big heart too. Hugo was amazing transport driver - always with a smile. Such a special trip and experience. Amazing cultures, people, laughs, tears (happy ones!), food (lots of amazing food!). Highly recommend you have to experience for yourself. You won't be disappointed. :)

In hindsight, I truly did not know what to expect from hiking the Camino. Perhaps spiritual revelation/growth while physically reconnecting with the earth and its people? Rui said we brought joy, kindness, faith, companionship, respect, and love to the Camino. But Rui and Yoli added a deep understanding of religious traditions and local culture wrapped in kindness and patience, resulting in a better than I could have imagined journey together (more joy and love). I will journey with Ultreia y Suseia again. And it goes without saying that the food, drink and accommodations were first class.

Rue and Yolanda did an excellent job in making my Camino trip easy with delicious food, great accommodations, excellent communications and the van that traveled with us was a real plus. I felt very secure traveling with Rue and Yolanda.

Rui, Yoli and Carlos' --our group leaders/guides were fabulous! The walk was designed to follow 100 miles of the path of St. James to Santiago and Ultreia y Suseia presented a balance of the history and spiritual relevance of the path in a way that was interesting and challenging. Amazing experience. Both emotionally and spiritually. This morning when I share at a meeting I weekly for. I was asked with whom I did it and I share Ultreia y Suseia website and told her to lookout in Dec 11-18 the company will be at different parishes. Our Lady star of the Sea being her parish is one of them.

It was one of the best trips that I have experience. Small group made for close relationships with all the participants. Father Dennis did an excellent job of making it very ecumenical. I wish the pace would have been centered more around smelling the roses rather than reaching the finish line but his may have had more to do with me than the group dynamics.

Camino Divino - Very well organized with thoughtful surprises to tie events of the experience together and create lasting memories. The team handled everything with ease and grace - always smiling and available to answer any request or question. The service, hotels, meals, wine, transportation, etc. were exceptional! One of the best travel experiences I have ever had.

Dear Potential Pilgrims! Sometimes, it’s great to be first! We were the lucky ones to be the pilgrims on the first Camino offered by the independent company Ultreia y Suseia. Though it was its first escorted journey, the entire experience was handled professionally and efficiently. It went without a hitch. The owners, Ruy & Yolanda, are outgoing and confident leaders with warm personalities. They were perfect companions for our long walk from the French Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela. You will feel relaxed, safe, and pampered in their care. The various places we stayed at along the way were comfortable, interesting, and well-placed. The sag wagon that followed with us was always a welcome sight with its snacks and water and even a restful ride if we found it necessary. All our meals were delicious and nutritious. Though primarily known as a spiritual experience, the company makes space for many different reasons people want to walk the pilgrim way. For some, the accompanying priests and daily masses increase the depth of their experience. For others, the chance to challenge themselves physically is their goal and they work well with those pilgrims as well. A most rewarding experience. it gave me and opportunity to look inward to focus on the real purpose of my life. Time to be alone with my thoughts and sort the meanings. A deeper appreciation of what my Savior wants of me in my relationship with others. A willingness to do his will .

Eso es exactamente lo que viví haciendo el camino del Norte para llegar a Santiago de Compostela. My husband and I just returned from the Camino de la Reconquista with Rui and Yoli. We are still in awe of the beautiful country and architecture we saw and experienced, and the warmth, generosity and impeccable attention to detail this trip entailed. We both feel this was the trip of a lifetime!! Walking along northern Spain's beaches and cliffs, mountains and forests, charming villages and cities - so much amazing scenery to be immersed in. Four and five star hotels and breakfasts and dinners (with local wines and dishes) - every day delighted and throughly spoiled us! The small group experience, with Rui and Yoli personally shepherding us, was very special and we made many lovely new friends. Most of this group was in their 60's and 70's and the walking routes and support van made it very doable for all. There were many extra, surprise touches that Rui and Yoli built into the trip that were very special and memorable. We cannot thank Rui and Yoli enough for creating such a wonderful experience - far beyond anything we had expected!

Buy a good pair of trekking shoe, pack your bag and go. Rui and Yoli cover everything else. Once you decide to walk a Camino de Santiago - pick which path then consider this firm to take care of everything else. Do when you make the decision to use Ultreia y Susiea then there is very little else to think about - I heard more than once from our fellow Pilgrims - so glad I did not overthink the trip. Simply spectacular.

Our pilgrimage on the Camino was El Camino de la Reconquista with Rui, Yoli, and Fr Blessing! This was an incredible spiritual journey through the northern route of Spain. I was impressed with the attention to detail along the journey. Rui and Yoli go above and beyond to ensure each of us are immersed in the journey of the Camino de Santiago. Our accommodations were over the top and the culinary experience with food and wine from each region along the way was unbelievable.

Our experience on the Reconquista route was certainly a high point of my life. It was an immersive, life affirming, sometimes physically demanding cornucopia of goodness. The beauty of Spain, the wonderful people we encountered, the majesty and simple beauty of the Cathedrals and churches and countryside, the camaraderie that suffused our group were a balm to my soul. You make of your pilgrimage what you will and mine brought me closer to my wife and to God. It gave me a new appreciation of Spanish, and by extension, European, culture. By the way, the accommodations and the food were absolutely top notch.

My Camino experience with Ultreia y Suseia is still hard to put into words even after almost 3 months of returning home. The genuine kindness and love, I continue to sense today of Rui, Yoli and Father Blessing! The physical challenge was far outweighed by the experience of daily just walking and trusting and being greeted by smiles, hugs and encouragement! After over two years of waiting (because of COVID), I was finally able to make “The Easter Camino” in April, 2022. Our walk took us from Salamanca, Spain to Santiago de Compostela. We walked 190 kilometers (120 miles) in 14 days. Travel arrangements, transfers, hotel accommodations, and our meals were wonderful. Yoli and Rui, our tour directors and guides were passionate, full of energy, knowledgeable, and great communicators who went above and beyond in order to make our journey safe and memorable. The itinerary was perfectly fine tuned. It was such a comfort to know that all details were taken care of and that we could relax and enjoy our walk and one another. Each day we began our day with a delicious breakfast and then a prayer with Father Blessing (our Spiritual guide) and an inspirational message to carry along the path with us. The paths we took each day were unique in their landscape, topography, and foliage. Yet, each day we were transported by their new and awe inspiring beauty. We had an incredible group of pilgrims who traveled from the United States and Canada. Each had a different and extraordinary story to tell. It was fun to get to know each one as we traveled along the trail or at the end of the day over a delicious meal and a glass of wine. I feel blessed to have made many lifelong friends. The Camino pilgrimage with Rui, Yoli, and Fr. Howard Blessing was an amazing experience, The accommodations and food were excellent, and all arrangements were made for our comfort and convenience. Having a van accompany us was a brilliant idea, not only for carrying our luggage but as a retreat when others were walking but I was tired. For anyone who wants a beautiful, peaceful spiritual journey, Ultreia Suseia with Rui and Yoli is definitely recommended.

The Reconquista Camino was a uniquely challenging and inspiring experience. The accommodations were excellent, and the meals were outstanding. The days of walking were usually broken into three stages, at which we were met either by the van with water and snacks, or at a designated restaurant for lunch or other refreshments. The walk itself was filled with breathtaking vistas and challenging topography. We passed through farmlands, forests, quaint villages, over small mountains, and by beautiful beaches and bubbling streams. Generally Rui or Yoli followed the group of walkers while the other went ahead to the meeting point. This was to ensure that no one was left behind. However, this did not keep some from following the wrong path and getting lost. But having a cell phone to contact Rui or Yoli helped missing walkers find their way back or directed the van to their location for pickup. Walking into Santiago de Compostela made the aches and pains and blisters along the way all worth it. The feeling of accomplishment which we experienced was overwhelming. Also, the Botafumeiro ceremony after the Mass at the Cathedral was an unforgettable ending to the Camino. Prior to Covid, I went on the Portuguese Coastal Camino which was also very challenging and which I thoroughly enjoyed. Having Father Blessing on both Caminos was in itself a blessing. His saying Mass and his inspiring talks and discussions helped keep us focused, reminding us of why we were there and of what we had gained. I'm looking forward to joining the Easter Camino in 2023 with Rui and Yoli and Father Blessing.

There aren’t enough stars to properly rate my experience. Rui and Yoli led us to places where the Spiritual Presence was tangible. Ancient,beautiful, peaceful paths traveled by millions of other Pilgrims. I felt that every step I took, was on Holy Ground. I felt absolutely safe the entire time. Even when I wandered off the path alone and was “lost” in the most delightful way. Rui and Yoli are two of the most amazing people. They treated us like family. I treasure the time spent with Yoli’s Mother and Father. Truly, unforgettable. Rui, Yoli, and Father Blessing work so well together. “No worries “ and WOW, will always remind me of Rui. Three people welcomed a group of strangers from all different walks of life and shared themselves, their beautiful country and their own family. Strangers became treasured friends in a very short time. They are now, my Camino Family. Margie and I will be going back, together. Maybe Kristi and Guy will sign up, too. We had so much fun getting “lost”! We met a fellow pilgrim and found a beautiful beach! It was an honor to get to know Father Blessing. At every mention of his name, everyone immediately said, “I love Father Blessing! He’s my Favorite Priest!”. Now, I understand and agree. The food was so, fresh and delicious. Accommodates were beyond imagination! Yoli and Rui are so special, I can’t imagine going on this journey with anyone else. They share their country’s history with us and take us to ancient places that awakens our Spirit. Thank you, Dear Friends. My rating is, ALL the stars in the universe!

Incredible! Our Camino tour was the El Camino de la Reconquista. This is an immersive experience that you take home with you. My wife and I would strongly recommend this for anyone wanting a true Camino Experience! Your hosts Rui and Yoli will have arranged everything for you! You are literally boots/shoes on the ground as you travel the path that thousands of pilgrims have taken over the centuries! Each bend contains unexpected treasures for the senses and new images for you to take pictures of, or just save in your memory. The owners of the tour company, (Rui and Yoli), are the most incredible and gracious of hosts. It's like having a concierge with you! We wanted for nothing on our trip. From extraordinary lodging, (think old castle, home of a Count, mountain lodge along with fabulous hotels), to equally outstanding food, this was a well planned and executed walk through the north of Spain! Father Blessing came along on this tour and just added to the experience, such a great man and a priest like none you will ever find. We began to treasure coming around the next turn in the road to find him there to greet us with a smile that brought joy to our hearts. There was so much more to the tour than we expected and we have a lifetime of memories from this Camino. So much so that we are going once again, this time on the Portuguese Coastal Camino – The Renaissance Path. We will slow down and use all five senses, taking more time on this Camino so we can get even greater and lasting treasures from this journey. In closing, book a tour and be ready for a life changing experience like no other. Buen Camino!

This Camino was amazing….. without detail, this Camino taught me total surrender and trust in God. The love and support with our news friends was incredible. Rui and Yoli provide a first class experience. My third Camino and will look forward to the next! Walk in love💙💙💙

El Camino Del Reconquista September of 2021 I wish there were 10 Stars to rate this touring company and Rui and Yoli, owners and the kindest, most authentic, nothing is ever too much to ask of them. My husband and I walked this together and the experiences we had, Mass in Oviedo in a cave, Mass with part of the cross from Jesus. I could go on and on, I hope you get the idea that the experiences and places we stayed were fabulous. The food was outstanding and of course, if you didn't eat something being served, they would fix you something to your liking. Father Blessing was just that one of the biggest Blessings on our trip besides Rui and Yoli. My only regret, was not listening to Rui, when he continued to tell us this was not a race, take time to smell the roses. Well that didn't happen, my competition kicked in. I did see some new things as we got lost several times and I can tell you how nice it was to have a phone to contact Rui to come and get us. Since we didn't listen to Rui the first time, we are going back in 2023 to walk the Coastal Camino, where we plan to walk with our hearts and take time to be present and race. I am still processing my Camino (Reconquista, May-June 2022). It was a longtime desire of mine to do a Camino and doing with Ultreia y Suseia was the perfect way for me to have the experience of the Camino. There was a lot of synchronicity that took place that enhanced the experience. Thank you Yoli and Rui for taking such exquisite care of us. The Reconquista Camino with Rui, Yoli, and Fr. Blessing was an epic adventure of discovery and renewal. There were many memorable firsts for this pilgrim - kayaking La Concha Bay, sipping Nordes gin and tonic, climbing the sweaty mount to the Lignum Crucis (remnant of the True Cross), celebrating Mass in a cave (Covadonga) like an early Christian, savoring Pedro Ximinez sherry over ice cream, traveling in time on a two night stay in a palace, offering special intentions through Fr. B’s concelebration of a Mass for the Sacred Heart of Jesus at St. James Cathedral, and marking this life’s milestone with a pilgrim shell tattoo with members of my clan. Our friends at Ultreia y Suseia were wonderfully attentive chaperones. They displayed many of the best qualities of tour guides and friends - passion, knowledge, encouragement, organization, creativity, spontaneity, huggable, and importantly great coolness under fire when the inevitable surprises arose.

Could not recommend Ultreia y Suseia enough! They take great care of their pilgrims and ensure the entire experience is seamless and beautifully curated.

This experience is now a part of my heart and soul. And, God willing, I will return many times. Rui, Yoli and Fr. Blessing are the best that humanity has to offer. Being guided by them, along the Camino was awe inspiring. Their insights of love, self, nature, kindness, "never give up" and God was so heartfelt. I have instructed my family, that in my final hours on earth, that I want to be surrounded by my family, with the video of my Camino playing over and over again. How Blessed I am to have found such wonderful people! I love you guys so very much.

The Camino was the most amazing travel experience of my life Rui and Yoli have carefully curated every detail of the trip to provide the most memorable experiences And, having Father Blessing as a spiritual guide was an added bonus!

All I can say is “Wow”! What an amazing experience. At 75, I did have some self doubts, especially on the first day climbing up out of San Sebastián but by the last day, I felt comfortable, confident and had the energy of a frisky puppy dog! The views of the ocean and mountains were spectacular and the 10 of us will be friends forever. But, what made the trip was our hosts Rui & Yoli who were prepared for everything! Spectacular rooms, incredible meals from breakfast to dinners and wonderful wines to boot! The two of them were our guides and were always flexible, caring and creative! I will never forget this experience with my loving wife of 50 years on the “El Camino” to Santiago, Compostela!! Following “The Way” of St. James is truly a personal pilgrimage and not just a “hike in the woods!” Also, many, many thanks to Father Blessing for his dedication and friendship during the experience!! We will be adding some wonderful photos shortly!

What an amazing journey to experience Ultreia y Suseia's Easter Camino. It was a walking pilgrimage but an experience of a lifetime. Rui and Yoli are amazing coordinators of this journey. They provide the paths where they share their wealth of knowledge of history along the way. All the behind-the-scenes hard work is evident in the way each day was presented to us. Deep feelings of peace, serenity and calm engulf you as you take in the scenery as you walk the paths. The beauty is indescribable; pictures do not do it justice. On Camino you are not the 'tourist', you become the 'journey'. It was for me the experience of a lifetime. But what an experience... so amazing I know I WILL do it again! Thank you, Rui and Yoli. This trip was incredible. I attribute this to the wonderful itinerary that Rui and Yoli presented every day. I have traveled the world over and I would include this trip as one of the best. Better yet, it was the best. There was no stone left unturned when it came to the hotels, the meals, and the itinerary. What I found wonderful was the one on one that they provided each of us. Father Howard Blessing was our spiritual guide. Rui, Yoli and Father Blessing provided a warm and calming presence throughout the entire trip. I will do another Camino, but only with Rui, Yoli and hopefully Father Blessing . In a word this trip was fabulous.

My Camino (Apr 15-30, 2022) convinced me that I'm NOT too old or too out-of-shape to walk another, next year, ... and I will! Our small group and our hosts/guides Rui and Yoli just could not be a better fit. The accommodations, the food, the wine, and our camaraderie may have overshadowed the spiritual side of my Camino, but everyone's intentions for making this journey are different. Perhaps mine was God's way of "locking me in" to make additional Caminos wherein we will focus on other aspects of my soul. Time will tell. Meanwhile I'll focus on shedding the extra pounds I'm carrying before the next Camino!

This Pilgrimage with Rui and Yoli was first class. They were responsive immediately with any questions we had even before we arrived in Spain. They are proud of their country and showed it in many engaging ways. The food and meals were sumptuous. The hotel’s beautiful and comfortable. The route of our Camino was quite doable for a Senior citizen such as myself . I would and will definitely recommend this Pilgrimage to all my family and friends. I met the Ultreia y Suseia team in the off-season while walking our own Camino. What had been a rather happenstance journey bogged down by nightly planning, research, and cramming through history/guidebooks quickly turned around as we joined Rui's group. Rui is a consummate professional, gentleman, and a remarkably welcoming host. He provided a local perspective on the art and historical/religious significance of every single stop on our journey, which allowed us to actually enjoy our trip and lift our heads out of our guidebooks. No question or request was too small for him to enthusiastically entertain. He also helped us find a more relaxed and manageable pace.. this proved crucial to our experience in particular, as I had planned a wedding proposal at the end of our journey. The experience was so amazing that I went on three Caminos in a row. My fourth was canceled due to COVID-19 but I look forward to returning sometime next year.
