Wild Andalucía

My Father and I spent a fantastic day birding with Àlvaro in the hills near Ronda and we would highly recommend Wild Andalucia Birding Tours for both seasoned birders and anyone wanting to experience some beautiful nature in the relaxed and enjoyable company of an extremely knowledgeable guide!! I was able to see a number of very beautiful species including some like the Black Wheatear and Thekla's lark at very close range. Many thanks for an unforgettable trip!!

Una experiencia única. Conocer el territorio al que has ido tantas veces pero de la mano de un experto es redescubrirlo. No sólo es impactante y conmovedor la biodiversidad de nuestra tierra, sino también muy importante entender las relaciones en el paisaje que afectan su hábitat. Es invisible para nosotros, te tiene que guiar alguien y hacerte mirar de nuevo. Los cables del tendido eléctrico, el árbol seco, las vallas que separan las lindes del terreno. Abrigos de piedra a la sombra, o una pequeña estación hidroeléctrica a mitad de río. Álvaro conoce todos los rincones, y te habla de los pájaros con nombre y apellido. Conoce las familias, las parejas, qué frecuentan, cuándo migran y hasta los solitarios remolones que no acaban de partir. Vimos 35 especies en 5 horas en medio de la ola de calor, cuando tantos otros guías me dijeron: vuelve en primavera, no hay nada aquí en verano. Esa nada nos dejó deslumbrados y con ganas de volver y repetir. Es muy bonito conocer quién vive aquí. ¡Gracias!

If I could give Wild Andalucía 6 stars, I would. I went on 2 day trips with Àlvaro, and it was spectacular. He was so kind in giving me opitons on places to go, and how to maximise my species list. We ended up seeing 40+ species together, and we didn't even visit a wetland! He is truly such a patient and caring person who knows everything about where he guides. Thank you so much, Àlvaro!

We just had an amazing day bird watching with Alvaro. It was an incredible experience, we saw over 30 species of birds and wildlife. The national and natural parks we visited were absolutely stunning. But most of all, we really enjoyed Alvaro’s company. He is such a gentleman with a great sense of humour on top of his extensive knowledge of the region’s wildlife. We highly recommend him and we can’t wait to do a longer, multi day tour with him.

My son and I have just enjoyed a brilliant week of birdwatching with Wild Andalucia Birding Tours in the Extramadura and Donana regions of Spain. Our guide, Alvaro, was excellent - impeccably well-organised, thoughtful, and full of fascinating information about the many beautiful birds that we saw and the diverse habitats in which we observed them. This included great views of some birds we'd never seen before such as Great and Little Bustard, Spanish Imperial Eagle and white-headed duck. We also enjoyed the two main bases for the trip - Trujillo and El Rocio - where we stayed in simple but welcoming hotels and had lots of excellent food. My son (who is an experienced and avid bird-watcher) and myself (a novice) both thoroughly enjoyed this rewarding week. We cannot recommend the trip or Alvaro highly enough!

We had a day out with Alvaro during the bird migration from Africa, we had the most amazing day! We saw hundreds of short toed eagles cross, a white stork and black kites. Alvaro is so knowledgeable we went to 3 different viewing points to ensure the best possible viewing, the scenery was also stunning. We asked to focus on larger birds and Alvaro delivered, we then went on to some wetlands where we saw many birds including flamingoes and spoonbills. The day was completed by visiting the endangered bald ibis breeding colony, what an amazing bird and what a privilege to see. Alvaro is a superb, friendly and knowledgable guide, who we strongly recommend and hope to do trips with him in the future

I had a wonderful day tour with Manu in Tarifa and the surrounding areas. Manu was very accommodating and showed me a lot of different areas and took my wishes into account. Even though it was still a bit early for the migration, we were able to observe some of the bird species I wanted very well. I was also able to take some very good pictures. All in all, a great tour that I would do again at any time. Thanks also to Alvaro for the organization. I will be back :)

Could not recommend Alvaro highly enough. He was highly knowledgeable, very friendly and highly accommodating. He really went above and beyond to ensure our tour was amazing and we saw as much of the amazing bird and wildlife as possible. We will definitely be booking further tours with Alvaro. Alvaro is trully an excellent guide! I have done 2 different tours with him, 1 in summer focused on birds of prey such as the Bonelli's eagle, and the other more focused on aquatics during winter. I have enjoyed both experiences very much!! Alvaro will always try to adapt his tours according to your likes and needs. I recommend him 100%.

Best day out in and around Ronda with Emmeline. Knowledgeable, personable, and attentive to detail.. and so much fun. We got to know more abt the area, geology and cultural history along side seeing the birds that were on our list and more. Incredible scenery ... highly recommend.

We took a one day, 6 hour birding tour with Álvaro from Wild Andalucía and it was an excellent experience! Obviously with all wildlife experiences the outcome can be unpredictable especially when you only have a shorter period of time to work with but we got everything we hoped for! Álvaro was incredibly knowledgeable of the local environment and wildlife and used this to taylor our experience to ensure we had a great time. It made for a very relaxed day which we thoroughly enjoyed he also had a lot of knowledge to share about local history and culture. We got to see so lots of new bird species including plenty of time with my target species the Eurasian Griffon Vultures. If you have one day or a week I could not recommend Wild Andalucía more highly for the best opportunity to experience the wildlife of South Spain. I'm already planning another trip to Spain and hoping to enjoy another outing with Wild Andalucía 10/10

Great views of Griffon Vulture, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Black Kite, Honey Buzzard, Marsh Harrier, Booted Eagle, Bonelli’s Eagle, Golden Eagle, Short Toed Eagle, Alpine Swift, Blue Rock Thrush, Red Rumped Swallow, Crag Martin, Crossbill on wires, Sardinian Warbler, Bee Eater, Black Wheatear, Northern Wheatear, Hoopoe, Woodchat Shrike, Dartford Warbler, Melodious Warbler, Common Redstart, Spotted Flycatcher, Thekla Lark, Stonechat, & Common Whitethroat✔️ All in all, an excellent day’s birding & a guide I would recommend without reservation.

We took Wild Andalucia's 6 night birding tour to Extremadura and Donana during April. We hoped to see several species of vulture, great and little bustards, and a number of Iberian specialities. We were not disappointed, having memorable views of these spectacular birds as well as enjoying many other species (waterbirds to warblers, Marbled Ducks to Corn Buntings). As it was spring we also enjoyed the displays of wild flowers. Five stars to our guide Alvaro, who is not only a great birding guide, but a great organiser, patient driver, fun companion and all round great guy. On the first day of our tour, we discovered that 2 of our 4 fellow guests were on their 3rd tour with Alvaro. That says a lot - we also hope one day to be repeat visitors. We highly recommend Alvaro and Wild Andalucia Birding Tours.

Nous avons passé une excellente journée avec Wild Andalucia dans la région de Ronda. Alvaro nous a partagé ses connaissances sur le milieu naturel, nous avons appris beaucoup de choses très intéressantes. Son excellente maîtrise du territoire nous a permis de faire de magnifiques observations d'oiseaux mais aussi de papillons et de fleurs. En plus de tout ça, nous avons eu la chance de voir plusieurs Aigles de Bonelli, une pie grieche méridionale, des Traquets rieurs et des Monticoles bleus. I was lucky enough to go on a butterfly walking tour with Alvaro. His enthusiasm for butterflies and all wildlife was infectious and his knowledge was impressive. He was funny, great company and we learned a lot. I definitely hope to return to Spain one day for another tour to see the butterflies in the region.

I spent a very pleasant day together with Álvaro (Wild Andalucia Tours), looking for butterflies and photographing them. Although the weather was not favourable to the plans - there were heavy rains in the previous days, which covered everything with Saharan sand - Álvaro helped us find the butterflies. His excellent local knowledge, outstanding expertise and friendly personality made this day a real experience.

Álvaro was able to arrange a last-minute tour from one day to the other. He's very professional, knowledgeable and made the tour extremely agreeable. Thanks Álvaro!

Nature with a Caring Professional Guide "Muy profesional y flexible, con capacidad de adaptación a los intereses del cliente. Muy recomendable." I read the foregoing review, and, though I am not a Spanish speaker, I understand and completely agree with this assessment of Álvaro Peral. Álvaro has broad knowledge of Andalucia in particular and Spain in general. His natural history knowledge is excellent, and his knowledge of birds is top notch. Being a nature guide requires much patience and personality. Álvaro has these qualities. A bonus is his sense of humour. During our 4 days of nature exploration (2 days Doñana National Park, El Rocio, Marismas del Odiel, then 2 days around Ronda Mountains, Osuna, Grazalema National Park, Cueva del Gato) we encountered at least 150 species of birds, topped up with some rare mammals (eg. Spanish Ibex), orchids, and lessons about Spanish culture and language. We enjoyed lunch at some very nice spots, two great ones in Huelva and Osuna. Oh yes, for the bird watchers: I was very lucky to have seen Bonelli's, Spanish Imperial, Black-winged and Red Kites, Lesser Kestrels, Spotted Cuckoo.Squacco Heron, and White-headed Duck, to name just a few.
