We had a very nice day with Nicky from Rootz Wine Tours. We truly enjoyed the whole experience. She drove calmly and safely, while at the same time sharing the fascinating history of the Ronda area during the journey. The visits to the two small boutique wineries were especially interesting, and tastings were a real highlight. The offerings were excellent. We are grateful for making the day memorable!

Nicky was an amazing tour guide! We would highly recommend hiring Rootz wine tours. The Manilva wine museum and sunset tasting at the winery tour was well organized and very enjoyable.

We loved our tour to Ronda and the surrounding bodegas. Nicky picked us up exactly on time and her driving was very professional. It was lovely to get to Ronda early before it got too busy. Nicky gave us an informative map and pointed out the main points of interest before she dropped us off for a couple of hours. It was lovely to have the time to wonder around the old town and the plaza de toros at our own pace looking at all the stunning views and buildings. We then went on to two different bodegas for our wine tasting and a tasty lunch of local products. It is obvious that Nicky has made genuine friendships with the owners and she is very knowledgeable about the wines and their production. We learnt a lot from her and the guides , so that we now realise how special and unique the wine makers in Ronda are. All in all a full and exceptionally enjoyable day .

Nicky was so kind and thoughtful - we had a great experience. She picked awesome wineries where we got private tours, abundant delicious food, and tasted very good wine. She was extremely knowledgable and shared lots of helpful tips for the area and wines to try. She was also an excellent driver! Five star experience.

We had a great experience with Nicky. We visited 3 wineries. In each one we had a tour to learn about how wine is produced, along with a wine tasting and delicious tapas. Every wine we tasted was accompanied with Nicky's expertise which made the experience more interesting and enjoyable. Totally recommended!

A most enjoyable event. The wine and tapas were very well paired, some lovely local wines and very tasty tapas of excellent quality. Presented to us with interesting information about the wines from our sommelier Nicky Lloyd, and about the food from the chef Franck Rossi . I can thoroughly recommend, and look forward to attending more of these events.

Nicky’s wine tours are exceptional. I participated on one to Ronda a while ago and more recently on the Antequera tour. Everything was wonderfully organised and arranged to perfection. Nicky is an expert on Andalucian wines and was full of interesting facts and information. We had the opportunity to visit 2 different vineyards, each very special in its own right. The first was traditional where we learnt how traditional Malaga wine was made and the second more modern and run by the younger generation. In between we had some free time alone to discover the delights of Antequera, an amazing baroque town. Nicky is very professional, hugely knowledgeable and great fun to be with. I would recommend her anytime to anyone seeking a wine tour.

The Rootz Wine Tours are absolutely superb. During our recent trip to Marbella, we enjoyed two wine tours (i.e., Ronda and Antequera) with Nicky, the founder and owner of Rootz Wine Tours. We went directly through their website to enquire about tour availability. Nicky was quick to respond offering a date for the Ronda tour along with information about how the day is planned. Once we had accepted the date, her accounts department sent us an invoice which we paid in advance. We gave Nicky the details of our accommodation and she explained that she would be in touch a day or two before to confirm our collection time. As promised, the day before our tour, we received an email not just confirming when we would be picked up, but also details of the weather and advice on the winding mountainous route in the event that we suffered from car sickness. Both days Nicky arrived to our accommodation with military precision and the brightest and warmest smile. Along our routes, we learned all about the regions we were driving through - from the history of winemaking in the region to interesting local events and sites, as well as her background in the wine industry. Nicky provided us with useful maps and tourist information for both Ronda and Antequera for our free time in in the towns. And, as for the vineyards, each one that Nicky selected for the tours could not have been more different to the other. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for the product and region is absolutely infectious; and, the warmth and hospitality of our guides at the vineyards made our visits to each one special. We had so much fun on both tours, we will definitely be booking again when we're next in Marbella!

Nicky owner/wine expert is just simply brilliant!!. We organised VIP tour of Ronda through Nicky and it was flawless from the begining till end. The wineries that were chosen were very exclusive with the food that was served by the owners who had put there heart and soul made the the experience most unique. I had done few wine tours but this is on top of my list and just like it says its truly a VIP tour.

What a wonderful experience we had with Nikki. From the windy stunning drive to Ronda from Marbella, to giving us a walking tour map for our free time in Ronda to the wine tours, it was awesome. We visited 2 wineries, learned about organic wine production, got to hand seal a bottle, tasted fantastic wines, ate delicious tapas, and had lovely conversation all day. Thank you, Nikki!

Last Thursday 22nd at the Age Concern Marbella-San Pedro Social Centre, Nicky Lloyd, owner of Rootz Wine Tours, held a Wine Tasting evening. Those of us who had signed up, were in for a real treat! Nicky had arranged the places very attractively, all had their own informative booklet and specific setting for each of the 5 wines to be tasted. Nicky started off with an extremely informative explanation of the wine growing situation in the whole of the Malaga province which has a wealth of vineyards, varieties of grapes, and wineries, each under the official denomination of "Sierras de Málaga." From the mountains of Ronda, over to Antequera and surroundings in the North-east, through to the Axarquia in the East, round to the Mountains just North of Malaga city and to Manilva on the West coast; a wide range of different types of wines are produced. I must say, having lived in the province of Malaga for 50 years, I was amazed at how the wine industry has evolved over the past 30 years. When I came here, it was mainly the fortified wine "Malaga Virgen" and other sherries that were on offer here. Nicky is a very knowledgeable professional and is an excellent communicator, who made the evening so enjoyable, (apart from the actual tasting, of course!). She explained about each of the different wines she had chosen to introduce us to. They consisted of one white, three reds - all very different, and one delicious fortified wine, similar to Port. It was so interesting to be able to identify, under some guidance, the different qualities of each wine. After the actual tasting, we were presented with platters of cured meats and three different cheeses, also produced in the Province of Malaga, which, when accompanied by the wine, enhanced the flavours. I would like to thank Nicky on behalf of Age Concern for her time and enthusiasm to educate the group who, like myself, enjoy drinking wine but now will be aware of so much more that is involved in producing wine for our pleasure. I did a wine tour to Rhonda from Marbella during the Christmas break with my friend. Nicky picked us up from our residence and drove us to Rhonda. We had a few hours to walk about Rhonda ourselves before Nicky took us to visit two vineyards. They were small and really interesting. Nicky is a wealth of wine knowledge! She has worked extensively in this industry and it shows through her passion and knowledge! Nicky is a very pleasant lady to chat with, the tour felt very intimate and personal. I highly recommend taking a Rootz Wine Tour. I will definitely take another when I am back in the Costa Del Sol. Thanks Nicky!

It was by far the best experienced we had with Rootz winery & Olive making’s tour, our guide Ms Nicky was so helpful , cheerful & attendantiveness to us all! Nicky picked us up on time from our villa and her 7 seaters vehicle was clean and spacious! Her recommended itineraries throughout the day was spot on especially the last winery at Ramos Paul , BIG shout out to the lovely owners that shared their beautiful home and delicious home-cooked meal with us and serenaded us with their duets performance! We recently stayed in the town of Marbella, in the Costa del Sol region of Spain. Lovers of wine we wanted to tasted some of the local wines and what better way to do so is to visit a couple of the local wineries. We booked a tour with Rootz Wine Tours and glad we did! Our tour guide happend to be the owner, Nicky and she was amazing. Our tour started with visit to Rhonda which is a small historic town in the mountains. Then we did wine tastings at 2 small wineries and the wines were marvelous. At the second winery we were served a delicious meal with wine. Not only is Ricky very knowledgeable of this part of Spain but she is also a sommelier which only enhanced our wine experience. Booking your wine tours with Ricky is a must. A very good and informative day out with Nicky (our second time, Ronda last time) touring Antequerra and two cracking bodegas. Excellent wines, food (tapas) and the inside knowledge of Nicky makes this tour one not to be missed.

My wife and I were in Marbella, Spain for vacation and wanted to do a wine tour. We happened upon Rootz and booked an 8-hour tour. Nicky, the owner/tour guide/sommelier was AMAZING! She picked us up at our AirBnB and provided expert historical details of the surrounding area and the small city of Ronda. We visited 2 small local wineries, met the winemaker at one and the owner of the second, tasted exceptional wines (all reds on this excursion), had tapas, and left with so much more information about wine and wine making. If you are in southern Spain, you owe it to yourself to book a trip with Nicky. We will return! Thank you so much, Nicky!

Nicky has curated a one of a kind experience here for those coming through Marbella and looking for a day away from the beaches. The Ronda trip includes a short visit to the historical town to wander on your own and then 2 family run small production exclusive wineries each with their own story and personality. Don’t expect to find the big box mass productions here. Nicky is knowledgeable, a great host, and wants the best experience for her guests. If you can make the day happen, do it!

The tour was terrific. Our guide, Nicky, was engaging and very knowledgeable on the Spanish wine industry. We enjoyed our free time in Ronda and both winery visits provided a tasty learning experience.

Just came back from a girls' day out wine tasting! Nicky picked us all up from our various locations and took us to visit two incredible and different vineyards in Ronda. One was very traditional and historical and the other was a beautiful family run vineyard that welcomed us with open arms. Despite loving a good glass of wine, the lengthy process from vine to bottle was new to me and Nicky took us through every step with clear explanations, teaching us even the most complex of techniques with simplicity. Talking us through each unique and delicious glass, we were left appreciating wine so much more - and there was a lot to try! I can not recommend this trip more highly. At the end of the day we left feeling ingratiated not only with the beautiful Spanish culture but we had been welcomed with open arms by each winery we visited. Definitely a 'must do' activity when visiting the coast!

Absolutely worth every penny! We are so delighted we done this tour, it was informative, the wine was amazing, Our tour guide Nicky was so friendly and gave us so much great information. We had a fantastic day exploring vineyards with Nicky. She’s a super nice lady full of information about the wines and the area. Booking privately and not sharing with others was a real VIP treat. I was worried because the weather wasn’t too good but it didn’t matter at all as we were mostly indoors. It’s a great way to spend the day if your looking for something to do away from the beach and tourists.

Extremely fun day! Delicious wines and food. Highly recommend stopping in Ronda as well. Nicky was extremely knowledgeable and always easy to reach during the booking process.

A fabulous day out, thoroughly enjoyable and would recommend as a ‘must do’ to anybody visiting the region. Nicky was a fantastic host, guide (and driver). Her knowledge, insight and obvious well-established relationship with the wine producers are clearly second to none. She was extremely accommodating and we cannot thank her enough for her efforts.
