We spent a day with Mel during our trip to Spain in Sept and it was incredible! This tour was the absolute highlight of our trip. Mel was both incredibly knowledgeable and educational, but still fun and personable. He showed us a great mix of spots and sights, and the local lunch was fantastic. You can tell he is passionate about what he does and truly cares about creating a memorable experience for his guest. Cannot recommend it enough!

Our experience with Rioja Wine Tours was nothing short of Amazing. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and tailored to give us the best possible experience in the Rioja wine region. Inma and Mel clearly have a deep passion for Riojas, wine, food, culture and history, and they are they did a wonderful job of sharing this with our group. Additionally, it was obvious that they have very strong relationships with the local winemakers. This made for custom and intimate tastings with some of the region's best. We visited smaller wineries and truly relished the opportunity to have discussions with the people that work all spectrums of wine making. We had many questions about everything from farming to marketing, and it was refreshing to get the answers from the people that do it all. The attention to detail really stood out – comfortable transportation, beautiful scenery along the way, and delicious lunches paired perfectly with the wines. We had a large group of ten “serious” wine experts. At least we thought we knew a lot. Apparently, we didn’t have that vast knowledge because three days with Mel and Inma taught us way more that we could have ever asked for. This Rioja Wine Tours was clearly the highlight of our trip. If you are anywhere near this beautiful region of the world, make sure to book a tour with Inma. Whether you are a serious wine lover or just want to soak up the beauty and flavor of Rioja, this is the experience you absolutely should not miss. A class act. We completed a private day tour. Bespoke tour in every sense. They pitch the discussion to your level, from professional wine buyer to tourist interested in wine. They are very passionate about wines, history and the future of wines and have a vast array of wineries to visit. We went for the education but also just enjoyed a day drinking very fine wines. Lunch was a treat. Genuine and the real deal. Highly recommended.

We spent the most amazing day with Inma in the Rioja wine region. It was the highlight of our 15 days touring different areas of Spain! Inma is very educated in the wine making process, and we learned more than we could have ever expected. She took us to beautiful niche vineyards, and we were able to spend time with the managers/owners. The wines were SUPERB. Inma is so warm and friendly. She is multilingual, which is so helpful. I am recommending all of my traveling friends and family to do this tour~it is unmatched!

We just completed two amazing days of wine touring with Mel from Rioja Wine Trips. Our time with Mel far exceeded any expectations we might have had about the region and its wines. We were so impressed how they took into consideration what we wanted to see and then created a perfectly curated itinerary. This wine tour with Inma was a lovely adventure full of insight into the Rioja region. The whole day was planned to perfection and coordinated so the 108 degree day didn’t get in the way of enjoyment. We gained new knowledge of wines from this region and Inma answered all of our questions and explained details in digestible and entertaining ways. We have just spent 3 days with Inma and Mel touring 8 wineries and vineyards in the Rioja Wine region. I cannot recommend them enough. Their expertise and knowledge of this area is impressive and their passion really shines through. They have clearly built up close relationships and friendships with leading winemakers across the region and really understood our brief and what we were looking to experience. As winemakers and growers from Stopham Vineyard in Sussex, England representing our trade body Wine GB, Inma and Mel delivered an itinerary to showcase the diverse terroir in Rioja and the different approaches by winemakers in crafting world class wines. Some trying new innovative approaches like using gravity to process grapes, using more clay amphora vessels and more sustainable, biodynamic viticulture and others respecting traditional practices and wine making techniques using barrel ageing reflecting the ageing classification. There is so much to say about this tour, how engaging it was and we felt like we were getting a ‘money can’t buy’ tour, behind the scenes with winemakers in a range of wineries from smaller garage producers to larger scale wineries with a slick wine tourism offering. A lot was learnt and so many highlights! Thank you for also immersing us in the local village culture too, great restaurants and delicious Riojan dishes. An unforgettable experience. Inma's wine tour was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Spain. Her knowledge of wine and the region was second to none. The most special part was her perfectly curated itinerary - meeting with the actual winemakers and getting the opportunity to see some of the smaller producers was absolutely exceptional. We would recommend Inma to anyone going to Rioja!

Our day trip with Inma was amazing on all counts! She brought such depth of knowledge across winemaking techniques, history of Rioja, regional philosophy, producer styles—and has excellent rapport with some truly special producers that showcase the best of the region. She customized a tour for us based on contrasting a classic scaled producer with very, very small production family producers in which the owner/winemakers guided us through the tastings personally. It was a super special day that culminated with Inma preparing a lovely Riojan lunch which was just delicious. She really over delivered on the experience. Highly recommend.

Our day with Inma was the highlight of our honeymoon! We chose the Wine and Architecture Tour and Inma had us captivated all day with her incredible knowledge about the history of the region and of course the wine making process and industry. The wines we tasted were delicious and the wineries and towns we visited were beautiful and charming but the day was made because of Inma and Mel and their wonderful hospitality. Inma even provided a list of other wineries to visit in La Rioja and a detailed list of her favorite spots to hit in Madrid for the next leg of our trip. What an incredible day my husband and I spent with Inma! We toured 3 unique wineries; learning so much of the history of winemaking in the region. Not only from Inma, but also from spending quality time with each winemaker. We tasted amazing wines from each vineyard and enjoyed our wonderful picnic lunch (including Inma's home made peppers) in the intimate setting of one our our winemakers private family rooms. Inma also made some great suggestions for our next few days in Rioja and Madrid. Spending the day with Inma was like spending the day with a friend. We highly recommend Rioja Wine Tours - you will not be disappointed!

Inma and Mel are the best! We had such an incredible time on our wine tour of Rioja. We are a group of 9 and they planned our day to perfection. We visited 3 fantastic and uniquely different wineries. Inma and Mel were so personable, knowledgeable, and passionate about the area and its wines. You can tell they have cultivated great relationships with the wineries and provide a truly local and uniquely Riojan experience. We had a delicious lunch of Spanish omelette, ham, tomatoes, cheeses and more and then Mel took us on a nice walk through the medieval town to a castle on the top of the hill, the views were stunning and it was a great ending to the day. Three years in a row with Inma! Once again I visited three small wineries and met with passionate winemakers. I keep coming back to this guide because I keep learning more and meeting new people! We ended the day have menu del dia at a local restaurant in Haro, Excellent! These tours don't feel like tour, they feel like meeting long lost friends. I simply cannot recommend Inma and Rioja Wine Tours enough, best of the best! This is the 2nd year in a row I have toured with Inma in Rioja, and this trip was even better than last year! You know it will be a great day when it starts with a double rainbow (last year also had a rainbow!)!! The tour is, simply, great visits with passionate, inspiring winemakers that you will not and cannot see using large bus tours where you tour with many people. Getting to meet Alberto and Luis, and visiting with Miguel again was an absolute pleasure for me. I could spend so much time hearing their stories and learning how they are making the best wine in Rioja, how their knowledge and quest to make the best had brought them to make these wines which absolutely soar! Inma know the region, knows the wines, and is great at imparting her extensive knowledge and insight to the tour group. She also points out how the areas long history reflects in the wine and how the people of this beautiful corner of Spain expand their gastronomic culture to include the best wines the world can offer with stunning food from this region (you need to try the tomatoes, really!) I plan to return to Logrono next year, and will again use Inma as my guide. There are not words enough to express my joy I experienced on this tour. A must do tour!

My husband and I booked the Unusual Suspects tour and what an incredible experience it was! Mel readily shared his knowledge, understanding and passion for wine with us. What really stood out with this particular tour ( and why we chose it) is that we visited smaller specialty wineries not open to the general public. We were met by the vineyard owners themselves who readily and lovingly described their vineyards and wines. To sit with the owners and taste their wine in beautiful environments as they explain the details of each one and see the enormous pride they take in producing their wine just elevates the experience. Mel provided a delicious lunch and great conversation and we loved spending the day with him. If you want an Unusual Wine experience with fabulous wine and great company then I highly recommend this tour!

Teriffic tour! Inma is amazing! Extremely knowledgeable about wine and the history of the region. She took us to two unique wineries where we got to learn about the wine and the families that own the wineries. Bonus we had time to visit a castle and she made us an incredible lunch of local cuisine. Highly recommend

Excellent wine tour with Inma at Rioja Wine Trips. We took the tour at the end of August in Rioja Alta y Rioja Alavesa. Inma is very knowledgeable and a fantastic story teller. She made the tour very entertaining and pleasant. We were delighted by the boutique wineries we visited, not only by the wine tasting but also by the underground caves and overall architecture and towns in Ls Rioja.

This was one of the BEST days ever! Mel took us to some fabulous wineries! Spending the day with him was one of the highlights of our trip. He shared so much about the region, wineries, and took us to some incredible places we would have never seen on our own. The lunch he served us as well as great conversations meant so much to us! We would definitely encourage anyone to book with them. We hope to do it again someday with him.

My wife Catherine and I did the unusual suspects tour on Easter Monday 1st April (a birthday present for her). We did the tour with Mel, who is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine. He is very good at explaining the interesting intricacies of all things vino and his knowledge is superb. Above all he was a genuinely lovely bloke and it was a sincere pleasure to spend the day with him. We went to three amazing wineries and tried some truly unique high quality wines. It was Easter and two of the three wineries opened especially for our tour which is a testament to the great relationship Mel and Imna have with these talented wine producers. The wineries themselves were nothing short of amazing and my wife and I had an amazing day that we will look back on with the fondest of memories.

My wife and I had a great trip with Mel this week. It’s offseason and we contacted Inma late. They were able to accommodate us with a custom tour to three delightful wineries including two that we would not have been able to access without them. Mel was very pleasant company and we learned a lot about Rioja - The people, terroir, wine, and history. Got a real sense of place. We’re taking home some age worthy wines that will help us remember the day for years to come. Would highly recommend!

My wife Heather and I are wine lovers and when we travel we like to seek out wine experiences. Inma from Rioja Wine Trips was amazing! Inma picked us up at our hotel and arranged for two-days’ worth of touring and tasting and we were so happy with our unique experience. We had so much fun with Inma on the Unusual Suspects tour. She took us on a full-day excursion with visits to three family-owned wineries with unique histories and terrific wines. The highlight of our tour was getting to meet one of the bodega owners, who sat with us for two hours talking through the past, present, and future of his business. Inma then prepared a delicious homemade lunch with local specialties before taking us back to our hotel. It was a wonderful experience with a fantastic, deeply knowledgeable, and friendly guide - we would highly recommend!

Incredibly special, once in a lifetime experience. Inma is knowledgeable yet accessible and was able to share so much information and passion for the region. It was my first time in the rioja region. This tour was amazing! We went to local wineries and learned so much about the area. The guide was so knowledgeable and the wine was amazing.

We had so much fun on the Unusual Suspects tour! Inma was such a knowledgeable and personable host. Our time together was as if we were spending time with an old friend. The winemakers were so welcoming and patient with us while we practiced our Spanish and sampled unique and amazing wines. We started the day learning about the specific characteristics of the region and land that make Rioja such an ideal area for winemaking, followed by a tour of three different wineries. The vineyards were well dispersed, but in close enough proximity that we were able to get a good idea of the geography of Rioja without feeling like we were spending too much time in the van. The day ended with an intimate lunch in one of the wine-makers homes where we had a traditional Spanish meal. After lunch, we were able to take a walk to explore a small castle atop a hill where we took in beautiful views of the countryside. If you are looking for small, boutique, wineries that are off the beaten path, this tour is for you!

We booked a "winery hopping" tour through Inma with Rioja wine trips. It was a fantastic experience. The tour was well organized and Inma was a great host...taking us to different family owned wineries and sharing great knowledge in an easy and casual manner. We ended the day with an awesome traditional Spanish meal. The whole experience was amazing and I would highly recommend booking with them again!

We spent the day in a small group with Inma, visiting three wineries - each different from the other and all very interesting. Inma is a great host, sharing her seemingly infinite knowledge about the Rioja region, the bodegas and the wines they make. The information shared by the winemakers at the bodegas and their hospitality was amazing. We felt very privileged to spend the time at each place and not be rushed, learning every aspect from growing vines to classifications of the finished product. Lunch was a stand out - delicious! The recommendations Inma gave us for our own exploring and dinner were both appreciated and enjoyed - great suggestions. Rioja Wine Trips - Private 5 day/10 winery Tour April 2023 Short Version: 10/10 HIGHLY recommended. AMAZING experience! Trust their recommendations and don't change anything! Long Version: Rioja Wine Trips, owned and operated by Inma and Mel. I struggle to write this simply because I am unable to do them justice. A truly lovely, multilingual husband and wife team that know the Rioja region/history inside and out, extremely well connected with the local wineries/winemakers/growers, and very knowledgeable in all things wine. Our 5 day tour included Hotel, 10 wineries, daily lunch, and daily guided walking tours/sightseeing. Hotel accommodations were wonderful at Sercotel Portales and included a very nice breakfast. All daily lunches were extremely delicious, included wine, and ranged from an intimate home cooked meals to high end restaurants. We had incredible daily winery tours, and tasted many, many, fabulous wines. Inma and Mel were very accommodating with all of our requests, including changing a couple of winery destinations based on a friend's input which turned out to be our least favorite wines. When we do this again with Rioja Wine Trips we will not change anything since they clearly know best when it comes to Rioja wines! What really made our vacation so memorable (aside from the beautiful wineries, scenery, and rich history) were the intimate, private tastings with the owners/winemakers themselves. I can't thank Rioja Wine Trips enough for treating us like family and creating such a amazing vacation memory that will last us a lifetime!

This is our second time doing a tour with Inma from Rioja Wine Trips. Absolutely amazing. We have been on wine tours in Napa, Sonoma, Willamette Valley, Champagne, Burgundy, and others. This tour is truly special. Inma makes you feel welcome and the wineries we were able to experience were exceptional. Inma is also truly an (certified) expert in wine and can explain the nuances of each wine from the terroir to the process in which it is picked, made, and aged. On the Unusual Suspects tour especially, we were treated to small wine makers that we would have never been able to find on our own. Highly recommend.

What a fantastic experience and professional tour guide. We did the "Unusual Suspects" private group tour with Inma. Took us along a journey into the Rioja wine region explaining everything from growing style to production techniques, and was able to professionally describe and present the wine in a way that educated and made it fun. The wineries we went to were extremely authentic, giving us a glimpse into the real taste and flavor of the region. On our first trip to Spain, we wanted to learn about more about Rioja wine. I found Rioja Wine Trips website by chance and booked a "Unusual Suspects" small group tour. We love going off the beaten path when it comes to wineries and anything really so we thought this would be the perfect tour! We lucked out and because we visited just in the off-season (1st week of November) we happened to get a private tour since no one else had booked that day. Inma is a wealth of knowledge, friendly, kind and just the person you want to spend your whole day with to learn about Rioja wine. We first stopped to learn about the grapes, how they grow, the different types of vines and geeked out over everything we had learned. Then we went to three amazing wineries, all the people we met were fantastic at the wineries, nothing was rushed, it was a perfect pace, you are not pressured to buy anything and it ended with a late lunch in a small family home. It was so great, we truly regretted not booking two days with Rioja Wine Tours. Inma goes above and beyond so all you have to do is show up, learn, drink and have a memorable experience!

Look no further, Rioja Wine Trips is a must for any wine tour in the Rioja region of Spain. This was truly an amazing experience. The tour Inma provided was above and beyond our expectations. Her knowledge, love, and passion for the region and its wine history shines through on the tour. We chose Rioja Uncovered, and it was quite the experience. The wineries Inma chose were rich in history and allowed us the experience of getting right into the wine making process. I felt like the tour couldn't get any better, but it did. Lunch was an authentic Spanish lunch and was absolutely delicious. There was a total of 6 of us on the tour, but it felt like a private tour. We visited a medieval castle with breathtaking views. The wines were delicious. Purchasing and shipping was a breeze. It was a full day experience and worth every penny. I don't want to give away all the details, just book it! I look forward to returning to the region, and when I do Inma will be the first call I make for another tour. Thank you Inma for genuine kindness.

This was the best wine tour we’ve been on, and our tour guide, Inmacudala (aka. “Inma”), was exceptionally good. She has a master’s degree in wine studies; her passion and knowledge show in her explanations of the wine, the Rioja region, and the vineyards. If you are interested in going deeper than the surface about wine and getting an authentic Spanish wine experience, then this is the tour for you. Inma picked us up in Logrono, where we were staying. We went to three wineries Valserrano, Puelles, and Gómez Cruzado: all family-owned wineries. In each winery we tried five different wines, including crianza, reserva, gran reserve, white varieties of Rioja, and some special wines. They were all very different and all good; we found some exception as well, which varies by pallet. There was no pressure to buy any wine, and in most places, we were greeted by the owners themselves. They took the time to explain the wines and tell us about the history of the winery and their families. It was very special. We also had stops along the road to see the vineyards, taste the grapes, and learn about the types of vines (bush versus trellis), soil, the struggling vine theory and different parts of the Rioja region. The tour was very relaxed while academic. The “cherry” on top came at the end of the tour when Inma took us to the medieval hill-top town of San Vicente for an authentic Spanish lunch at a traditional Spanish house. We had tortilla, different cuts of preserved meats, olives, bread, and of course Rioja wine. After lunch we walked up the hill to see the old church and the medieval castle. My son and I booked the Unusual Suspects tour and had the most amazing day with Inma visiting the smaller, lesser known wineries. Inma has a wealth of knowledge about wine and in particular, the Rioja valley, and has established a great rapport with the winemakers themselves. It was a much better experience than going to the larger wineries where you do feel like you’re being herded around a bit. The wineries chosen were all exceptional, each one unique in their own way. The lunch was delicious, Inma even brought along some delicious tomatoes from her Dad’s garden - I’ve never tasted tomatoes so delicious! Thanks again Inma for a fabulous day we will never forget.

Inma hosted our family of four on a private tour of 3 small wineries in La Rioja. It was a fantastic vacation experience. From the vineyards to the historical cellars, we tasted some outstanding wines while learning about the production and the history of the area. Inma was gracious, friendly, and fun. We had a wonderful lunch and walk in between visits. The highlight was drinking outstanding wine with the outstanding grower at Cupani, Enrique. I went on the Classics Rioja Wine Tour with my wife and two very close friends. My wife and I have been on wine tours in Florence Italy and in Napa Valley, California and I can say that this was by far the best. Inma, our tour guide and owner, gave a very personal account of the area and made us feel welcome. She was very knowledgeable and helped us to appreciate the history of Rioja and the wines made there. The three wineries included were varied and spectacular, no two really quite the same as the last. The tour concluded with a very personalized lunch with dishes made of hand-picked ingredients and felt very authentic. I would not hesitate to experience this tour once again and of course would recommend it to anyone interested, regardless of wine tasting experience. My wife, friends and I all agree it has been the highlight of our trip around Spain

An excellent wine tour. Inma was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and was one of those people who seemed to know everyone. We got some great peak-behind-the-curtains looks at the whole wine making process and some great smaller winemakers. Not the mention that the Spanish are always a good time - quite a few extra wine tastes and a lunch that just kept on going and going with more food. We did a small group tour which was a great value for what we got as well. I would definitely do another tour from her!

We had the most incredible day with Inma touring fields, wineries and the Rioja region. She is incredibly knowledgeable and fun to spend the day with. Our tour was on Sunday when Spain is mostly closed. She still got us in to tour the wineries which we had to ourselves. We felt like insiders, not tourists. We had a fantastic wine tour with Inma this week. She took us to 3 wineries that we would never have been able to learn about let alone visit. The Uncommon tour was exactly what we were looking for. Private visits to small wineries making great wine. Not a tour at big producer that has canned tours given by young graduates in marketing who never worked in the winery. Inma has a Masters in Wine and is a local. She knows everyone and she taught us a tremendous amount about the area and wine making in Rioja. The lunch was awesome! I have been on wine tours in Napa, Mendoza and Portugal. This was the best one!

I did the high end premium wine tour with Mel and it was one of the best wine tours I’ve ever done! I liked that we visited boutique/garage wineries and had intimate conversations with the winemakers. All the wine tasted were also of exceptional quality. Mel was a trove of knowledge in all things wine and made sure everyone on the tour was well taken care of. Inma was very helpful in arranging for me to join the tour at the last minute and later in providing restaurant suggestions for my onward journey to Bilbao and San Sebastián. All in - I highly recommend going on a wine tour with Rioja Wine Trips!

Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. A truly enriching experience! We spent an amazing day visiting three local wineries with heartedly devoted growers and wine makers amidst the serene and pittoresque Rioja region. TLDR - excellent tour, highly recommend! We had a fantastic time on our "high-end wines: critics choice" small group tour. We enjoyed all the wineries we visited and learned so much about the region, wine-making practice, and Rioja wine classification process thanks to Inma's attentiveness and great knowledge. Inma was so friendly and responsive, making it very easy to communicate with her before, during, and even after the tour (she asked us about our Spain travel plans and offered to share Madrid recommendations from her time studying there). I would definitely book again with Rioja Wine Trips for any future visit.

[HIGHLY RECOMMENDED] Incredible Rioja Wine Experience with Inma~ My boyfriend and I did the Unusual Suspects private tour with Inma. This experience was the highlight of our trip to Spain and a huge part of that was Inma. She taught us about Rioja wine and the region without overloading us with information, made us feel so comfortable, and the experiences at the incredible wineries was due to her relationships with each of the owners, which is a testament to her as a person. We visited three different wineries and had the best lunch that Inma prepared herself with fresh ingredients from our own garden. My boyfriend still talks about her Tortilla de Patatas. We had an additional day in Logrono before heading to San Sebastian and Inma sent us a detailed list of recommendations and even helped us book a bus to San Sebastian, which was a much better option than the train we had booked. I cannot praise Inma and this experience enough.

Booking the tour was easy. Inma and Mel are very responsive and helpful. Inma gave us loads of recommendations for out trip to Rioja and San Sebastian. And then the day of the tour, well that was magnificent! Three very distinct and unique bodegas. All with wonderful hosts and a real family feel. Mel was a great guide though let the winemakers tell their stories. It was a wonderful day ending with an amazing homemade meal. We would absolutely recommend a day with Rioja Wine Tours. We went on the Unusual Suspects tour with Inma in July 2021. Both of us agree that it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. Inma was extremely knowledgeable about both the region and the winemaking process, and we loved seeing her relationships with local wineries. We feel like we truly got an insight into the true process and business of winemaking, and were able to see vineyards that we would never have ordinarily gotten to. She did an excellent job showing us around Rioja (and parts of Basque Country), and the home-cooked meal was delicious. We could not recommend this more highly!

Amazing experience! We booked online at end of April 2021 during a short vacation in Spain. Imna, the owner, responded immediately and put together in 1 day a customized private tour for 2 people based upon our interests and wine knowledge. We choose to visit several small traditional high end producers off the regular beaten track. We met with bodega owners and learned about the rich culture and history of Rioja wine and region. The wine tastings were very educational and we tried many different wines (including our first white Rioja). We were treated to a home-made lunch in a local family house settting. Delicious Spanish tortillas! Imna also provided us with suggestions for the best regional pintxo bars and regional driving tours. In short: great customer service with a personal touch, very knowledgeable, local expertise, informal, excellent English, value for money. This day was definitely the highlight of our 2 week tour of Northern Spain.

If you want a wine tour - this is the very best in the region. They speak perfect English and know all the best places to eat and taste wine.

An unforgettable experience! My partner and I had the most incredible day with Inma touring wines in the Rioja region. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable about the wines and Rioja/Basque region more generally, but she is also such kind and generous person. She really made us feel very welcome, and despite being there during COVID Inma made sure we had the best time, tweaking things here and there to maximise our experience and make it as personal as possible. We toured 4 different wineries, visited 2 beautiful historical sites and ate the most delicious (home-cooked!) meal in a local home. Everything ran smoothly from beginning to end, with many laughs and a precious memory to take home with us. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the region!

My wife and I had searched many different wine tours in the Rioja region, and we kept coming back to the raving reviews of Rioja Wine Trips across multiple websites. The Unusual suspects tour took us to 3 wonderful wineries that we would have never known about Or have been able to see if it wasn’t for this trip. Inma was excellent and we learned so much! She felt like a friend who we had known for years and answered every question above and beyond. The price is well worth the trip as it lasted the entire day with transportation. Inma was so personable, that the entire trip felt natural. I would highly recommend not to second guess this trip, and go! You’re life will be changed forever!

I cannot say enough good things about this wine tour experience. My boyfriend and I traveled to Rioja because we’ve always loved Spanish wines, but we didn’t know anything about it (just that it’s good). I emailed Rioja wine tours and was unsure of which tour to choose, Inma was incredibly helpful and kind. She helped us create a tailored unusual suspects tour according to what I told her our tastes and interests were. I also got really lucky that they had an open day, because I cut it pretty close. Book early! They are busy and popular. On the day of the tour, Mel was our host. He picked us up right from our hotel and the day started. The tour was far far beyond our expectations. Mel is an expert, but was able to simplify everything and was very good at teaching us rookies about Rioja wines. We learned so much throughout the day and will never drink wine the same way again. Our experience gave us a much deeper appreciation for the perfect bottle of wine. We went to 3 different wineries that we would have never found or even been able to get in on our own. At first, I was skeptical. Only 3 wineries for the tour? Be aware this is nothing like a wine tour from the states. It’s so much more! The samples are more like full glasses of wine. We spent the entire day at the different wineries. We had around 3 glasses at each one, not samples, full glasses. Some places would even pour another glass or 2 after the tasting was over and also had an additional glass at lunch. We spent quite some tome at each winery learning and pairing with meats and cheeses. The glasses were spaced out and the timing of lunch and coffee before the last winery was perfect. We never once felt like it was too much wine! We were able to buy a couple bottles from one amazing family owned winery and even tour a cellar/cave where some of the wines are aged. It was a very cool experience that we had never seen before. The wineries were very happy to work with Mel to let us taste some of the more authentic family wines you cannot get anywhere else. Everything about this day was perfect. Please don’t be turned off by the price, it is worth every penny, in fact I think it’s worth more than they charge. If I even come back to this area, I will be doing this again. This is an experience you will never forget! A few days after the tour, Mel and Inma went out of their way to have a bottle of a wine we loved personally delivered to our hotel room after we discovered a bad cork. My experience with issues like this in the states would have resulted in a “too bad you already paid” however Mel and Inma went above and beyond to ensure the issue was corrected. One more thing, Inma even helped us to find our way around and gave us some excellent recommendations for the rest of our trip in Madrid. I am so incredibly happy with them and the experience they gave us! Cheers!

We have taken wine tours in Sonoma, Florence, Champagne; even a whiskey tour in Scotland - and this was one of the best tours we've ever taken. Mel, our guide (from UK) was great and had a wonderful passion for the area, the winemakers we visited and of course, the wine. The Unusual Suspects tour was a great experience to discover the subtle (and not so subtle) nuances and terrior of La Rioja. I would highly recommend Rioja Wine Trips as both Inma and Mel were wonderful to work with. I hope we are able to return and take another tour some day!

BEST Wine tour ever! Having been on more than 30 wineries and vineyards tours in Europe this was the best tour we’ve ever done! hands-down the best tour quide! Inma’s attention to detail and knowledge of vino-culture techniques made this tour a true delight! I really appreciated how she took each question and not only answered It throughly but added interesting nuasdce that s wine producer needs to deal with every day to make this fabulous wine we drink today. If you’re interested in large mass produced wines this is not a tour for you. the vineyards that she selected were truly unique and special. Each producer showed their appreciation of the terroir and the search to maximize its effects in the wines. Inma knowledge of the culture and history of the land came through loud and clear as we toured places only local government. Everything we tasted on our day tour was amazing. FYI the tortilla was incredible! Loved the secret Ingredient and the spectacular place we had it! All in all I would highly recommend Inma’s wine tour! For wine lovers, for beginners or for anyone that enjoys a day in Rioja with the best travel guide! great job Inma! We will be back soon!
